Lately I have been waking up about 1.30/2am with hot restless legs and unable to get back to sleep. Any thoughts?

First thought is "talk to GP" and explain symptoms and anxieties associated with diagnosis of cirrhosis. There may be a number of causes of what you are experiencing. Mike

Hi

Good advice from Mike I have had cirrhosis for a number of years and have changed blankets till I found a material that lessons the effect also go to the Loo just before bed helps.

Bad news I have never managed to stop it

Good Luck

Knowledge seems to be what you are short of. I suggest you take things one step at a time. Becoming part of this forum is one step. If I tell you of my experience this may also help. I have had a liver transplant which began by visiting my gp with various symptoms. After a time during which I had several blood tests he referred me to a consultant at my local hospital who mainly specialised in diabetes problems. After approx 1 year I was then referred to a specialised liver unit at St James hospital in Leeds. To the best of my knowledge there are only about 5 such units in England. I attended there for about another year having further blood tests and spending 3 days in hospital having MRI scan and ultrasound scan etc. before I was placed on a the transplant waiting list. I was then on this list for 18 months before my turn finally arrived. My positiofortunen on the list was never disclosed to me but it does depend on several factors, your blood group, availability of a suitable donor liver, you personal health condition are a few examples. In additon if someone arrives in desperate need of a transplant they will jump the queue. I believe my wait was unusually long and I have met people who only waited a few weeks. In all this time I never gave up hope and my patience finally paid off. I will aso add that I had stopped drinking alcohol for 5 years before my operation. Drinking will only make your situation worse and you will stand little chance of being successful if you continue to do so. I hope my explanation of the procedure is of help and I wish you the very best of good fortune.
