Still sent me to gastrologist and have fatty liver. Erratic levels of LFT's. What are normal AST's and ALT's.? Iam being seen every three month but would like to ask more questions next time. Can I ask for copies of results? Thanks so much.

hi depends on sex and age but anything less than 50 for GGT is "normal", 100 is mildly elevated-don't think many GPs would get too excited about it. There are a few links on this site for liver blood panel tests-just search. GGT very sensitive to alcohol though and other drug use.

Of course you can, AND MUST, ask for copies of all letters, reports and blood test results. You never know when you might have to go to another GP or hospital. Don't ask me why or when, just believe me that it happens. Get yourself a book of clear file pockets and start keeping everything in date order. I have several AI disorders and after 11 years of consultations, tests and hospital stays my filing system has grown to 6 or 7 40 pocket files.
