What does 'moderately severe' fatty in... - British Liver Trust
What does 'moderately severe' fatty infiltration of the liver' mean and prognosis?
It go's on % I have a fatty liver, it means it is scared and that part can not heal, mine is bad only 20% of my liver working. Ask your Doc or Consultant how much in % your liver is working, the higher the better.
Hi juiajuju. Did you have a liver biopsy that gave you this diagnosis?
Hi Ruby,
Has your fatty liver turned into cirrhosis? My liver was down to 19%, but that was after the fatty liver turned cirrhotic.
I haven't been told it is cirrohtic - I am not sure of the difference
I've a question about this one - how do they measure what % of your liver is working or not? When I asked this question at the hospital I was told it wasn't as simple as saying a certain percentage of the liver isn't working as the whole liver is affected by the damage. I don't know if I'm being dense or its the way I asked the question but I've noticed a few folks saying their liver only operates on a particular %. All advice gratefully received.
Hi juiajuju. A diagnosis by ultrasound only isn't really a full diagnosis. Ideally your doctor should take liver function blood tests as well, and then put the results together before giving you a diagnosis/prognosis, as fat in the liver can be caused by a number of different things. Fatty infiltration is scored mild, moderate or severe, so yours is in the middle - could be better, could be worse.
I understood that it was how much fatty liver you have, & that it will never heal, I am severe. and found out with scan & bloods taken good luck x
