Hello Everyone. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Unfortunately no parkrun for me this morning. I’m away from home on a little Holiday. Heading back home later today. But this morning I got up and did a 5K (not)parkrun. I was after partying last night so took it very easy. My finish time was 35:38, a few walking breaks and easy pace running. Happy running everyone.
Yes the media coverage was good. Our local radio station did a section on it too so I managed to give out a shout out for Southsea who were doing a food bank collection to celebrate the 20 years and Southsea’s 11th birthday.
Good morning Damien, at this very moment, quarter past nine I am at marshall point 1 at Palacerigg Country parkrun waiting to see the runners around 9.35 running their Saturday morning parkrun, the weather is cloudy but dry, light wind, temperature around 14C, so a good day for a run.Tomorrow I am running the 10K version of The Great Scottish Run, looking forward to that.
Sorry Dexy, there was a queue a mile long or thereabouts at the of the run, I was disappointed that there was no cake🤣, however, we were given a goody bag which contained my medal, T Shirt, a Ester-C Plus Immune Support, two Mitchum Triple Oder Defence deodorant and a Nature Valley Crunchy, I didn't open the goody bag until I got home, so no photos, however, there maybe a photo of me running on the official results page of the Great Scottish Run my BIB number is 28345, on that page it now tells me my official correct time (earlier it gave me a wrong time of nearly 2 hours) my official correct time was 1:19:21 with a correct 5K split time of 39:43, not 40 minutes,
Sadly no final Irish parkrun for me this morning. Having looked at Clonakilty (4 loops of the park) I persuaded Mr S that we would benefit from an extra day near Cork as there’s a lot to see and a nice riverside parkrun (Glen River) that would also have given me a G for my alphabet. About 8 miles from the campsite, but fine by van. Thursday an amber warning was issued of severe weather for heavy rain for County Cork starting at midnight last night. The rain hasn’t arrived yet but the wind got up overnight and is now blowing at around 35mph - didn’t feel it was safe in a 3m high box and public transport would have involved a 2 mile walk and 2 buses. Two of the local parkruns did cancel but Glen River decided just before 9.00 to go ahead. Gutted 😭
It has been amazing. Beautiful scenery, the friendliest people , top notch campsites, great food and drink and mostly good weather (unexpectedly 😂) What’s not to love 🥰
I went to Ashton Court today. It was a last minute change of plan (tricky week) and I’d drunk a full cup of coffee just before the start. Beginner’s error! Thought I was going to vomit all the way up the hill. Not my best decision. Still, once I hit the top, the downhill was lovely and a couple of minutes faster than last time. Overall, that shook out to a bit slower than I’d have liked but very pleased to tick another one off and add a couple of km running to get back to the car. Now I’ve got a pastel de nata. Happy days!
Arghh MissUnderstanding , you need to be 100% to make it up that hill with no ill effects! Well done on your efforts. The downhill is so sweet isn’t it? 🙏
We went to Roberts Park that holds my pb it was also there 3rd birthday 🎂 and parkrun 20th and my 50th parkrun. Fantastic morning Fantastic weather and over 600 runners/Walkers. For my 50th I wanted a good time basically and guess what I did it I got a new pb so happy with that and cake for after well done everyone and happy holidays Damienair
Due to a combination of a slight cold plus a sore arm after my flu and covid vaccinations I volunteered to be Funnel Manager. This role is often vacant but it was useful today with so many runners.I had the pleasure of telling the parkrun Global Head of Event Delivery to keep in order 😀 (he is a Marple runner so I do know him).
2 weeks ago, I did a 10k run with my run club. Last week, I slept and this week, I returned to my tourism.
Today, I came to Hoblingwell parkrun. A small event by London standards, with fewer than 100 runners. It’s also an event known for its odd looking course, which made it quite entertaining. It’s not as weird as it may originally seem, when you get used to it.
It was mostly on grass and trails. Next week, I may go to a Cross Country event, so this was good practice for it.
Good afternoon Damien and all. Today Katnap and I did our second parkrun of the week.
On Thursday we did Hasenheide parkrun in Berlin as part of the German Unity Day celebrations. We were leaving later that day and this was the nearest one to our hotel. It is in a lovely park on, more or less, cinder track. There is one hill about 2/3’s in which is only tricky as it has gullies across it which mean you lose your rhythm going up trying to avoid them. I was going to take it easy as it was only a few days after the marathon but my legs had other ideas and ended up hacking it a bit at 28:42. Thankfully there was cake after for both Unity Day and parkrun’s birthday.
Today we were back at home, showing off our Berlin Marathon finisher’s shirts and medals. I did take it easy but easy seems to be easier than it was pre-marathon as I did 31:42. My hips and ankles are complaining but everything else seems ok. Rest day tomorrow and I will take it easy next week, but this marathon doesn’t seem to have killed my pace like past ones have.
Weirdly my last three runs have all officially finished with 42 seconds. Any Douglas Adams fans out there will understand how significant that is 🥰 My heart is full ❤️
Hello everyone! Marshalling for me at Eastville ahead of my race tomorrow.
Sadly I didn’t have my little buddy Flossie with me as she’s under strict orders to stay home. She sprained her hip in the field on Monday and is on 3 legs. 🥺 The vet thinks she most likely twisted her leg in a hole, or jammed it on uneven ground, and as she’s a little arthritic her joint is less stable than a young dog. No wound (thankfully 🙏 I had visions of her being bitten by a snake or something), so it’s a waiting game.
They even had a little party hat ready for her, as there was a photo shoot of all the volunteers wearing them for PR’s 20th birthday.
A beautiful day though, and a feel good atmosphere in general. 🥰
Tourism to London for me today, for Dulwich parkrun. I got there ridiculously early so enjoyed a coffee in the park’s cafe. It’s a three lap run on mainly flat tarmac in the beautiful Dulwich Park. My time today was 29:11 my fastest for a while. Must have been the coffee 😁. There were cakes afterward to celebrate parkrun’s 20th birthday 😋. Lovely place! I’ll do this one again sometime.
I've mentioned my current ankle niggle in previous weeks. Following some rest, exercises and gentle jogs it seems to be improving, but it was sore after both 5ks that I did in the week, so I finally decided that trying to do 3 times that distance in the Great South Run in a couple of weeks would not be wise - very disappointing.
However it didn't stop me marking parkrun's 20th anniversary at Portsmouth Lakeside this morning along with 338 others and coming in at 31.38 - happy birthday parkrun!
Hi Damien and VRB s. We were off to Hertfordshire for a birthday celebration tonight so decided to do a parkrun en route. After much deliberation we chose Edenbrook Country Park in Fleet as it was just off the M3, and wasn’t as hilly as some others we looked at. It was a lovely 2 lap course, with some large but not too deep puddles. 35:26 for me, and you could say I came last in my age group, but my parkrun email says I came 2nd which sounds far better. UpTheStanley came in at 26:18, 1st of 3 in his age group.
One bonus was that the event started next to a leisure centre and they allowed us to use showers afterwards at no charge.
For the first time, post parkrun breakfast and coffee did not quite meet expectations, but we had a nice lunch at a National Trust property instead.
A great bonus for the tourist parkrunner. We have been known to pay to use a pool in order to get a shower at various events, but these were very obliging.
We touristed at Pegwell Bay in Kent. Beautiful coast park. A couple of weeks missed ahead while travelling, but hopefully my next one will the the Severn Bridge Parkrun which I've been dying to do for ages.
So happy to be back at parkrun yesterday, after a 3 month layoff due to injury. At least I was able to bump up my volunteering credits during my no-run period. My injury was a reminder that running is NOT enough, I must continue to do those strengthening exercises! 🙂
Thank you, it's always quite satisfying although I feel envious at the time! We have a junior 2k parkrun locally too and it's amazing to see all those keen tiddlers running like crazy! 🙂
After an 18 hour journey, door to door, I arrived in West coast Canada at 9pm Friday evening. The nearest parkrun is only a 20 minute drive away but (oddly) starts at 8am rather than 9am.Under normal circumstances I'd have waited til another weekend, but the 20th anniversary inspired me to just get up and do it! Beautiful sunny morning, running alongside the Okanagan lake set me up for the day. Jet lag? Not listening!!!
