Good morning you lovely runners..how are you all doing…wow how warm has it been again? I love the hot days & really miss them when they disappear..but not when I’m due a run!!!!

I had a lovely birthday last week…thank you all for your kind wishes I definitely felt the love ❤️…I had a surprise trip to Dublin & had a lovely couple of nights away…I walked & walked & walked the streets of Dublin & I would like to see more of Ireland now…but that’s enough of me…

How’s it going for you all? Were you inspired by the Olympics?

For those of you who joined my quest last week are you still on track? I am starting my quest properly this week as last week I was here and there without any running plans in the bag at all…so my quest is just to get three runs in this week, starting this morning…no excuses….

If you’re new to the quest, here’s how it goes….

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

Some popular goals are:

🌼🌺To run three times a week

🌼🌺To slowly increase distance

🌼🌺To train for a specific race

🌼🌺To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine

You need to be a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is COMMENT BELOW with something like:

I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............

So let’s kelp/get going…share your quest with us, we are all cheering each other on here….

Keep running…keep smiling 😊

MC x

Ooh, Dublin, nice... only driven through. City breaks are brilliant for getting the steps in and of course culturally wonderful. We had a Grand Day Out in Birmingham in the last week which felt like a mini holiday.

So.... I was aiming to get my medal 5K in the bag for the month much earlier than the last day of the month... haven't achieved that yet.

Average 10 minutes a day brisk walking.... yes, the Active 10 app is a cruel taskmistress but that's comfortably in progress (but not so very comfortably I can forget about it!)

Pelvic floor exercises... a 100% week last week, which means 3 full sessions every day.

31+ Ekhart yoga classes... currently 8 so running a bit behind (although I can see myself doing multiple relaxation/restorative/meditative sessions over the next few days!). My favourite so far (apart from all the lovely ASMR voices) has been face yoga.

Morning  Mummycav ! Glad you had a fantastic time in Dublin. What a great city! I’m off on holiday this week and I can’t wait to do some runs. It’s not quite foreign soil but it’ll feel like it because we’re off to Northern Ireland on the ferry. The first thing I’ll be packing is my trainers.

I’m totally off track with the runs. Post covid fatigue has derailed the training plan, and with a week of camp with teenagers I haven’t run in a little while. My quest for this week is to run every other day (fatigue permitting) and see where I am. I also need to pick up the strength training and resume normal eating patterns with a bit more veg!!! Next week I’ll sit down with the training plan and work out where I am and what’s realistic for October given I’ll have basically lost a month of training to Covid. What’s  Oldfloss ’s mantra? Acknowledge, accept, adapt? That’s what will be my guiding principle for where to go from here.

So my quest goals for the week:

⭐️Run every other day

⭐️Two 45 min strength sessions

⭐️5 a day fruit and veg

Have a great week questing everyone!

Hello again Mummycav , your trip to Dublin sounds wonderful. I've only visited Ireland once, a day trip to Dublin where we visited the Guinness brewery, but I was driving so...

Back to the Quest. Consistency, speed and heartrate are all more or less under control.

I've done 4 runs in 13 days so not quite on track for 3 per week. Should have run yesterday or today but stayed in bed too long and I wasn't going to set off when the temperature was over 20C and sunny. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler so is looking promising. Not a fan of hot running.

I've just spent a happy few minutes playing with an Excel spreadsheet downloaded from the Garmin Connect website. It tells me that my average HR is down from 135 in 2022-2023 to 129 since June. Zone 4 so higher than I'd like. I just noticed that my 'Maximum' Zone now starts at 138 when I'm sure it used to be 139. Must have noticed I became a year older in April lol.

Looking at the numbers for average pace it's slowed down since earlier in the year but I try not to pay too much attention to those stats, don't feel it tells me much useful information. After all, I'm never going to be trying to win any world records so it isn't particularly relevant :)

I noticed the other day that I'd put on weight, a dress that used to fit was a bit tight so maybe I should include some weight loss goals but that doesn't sound like much fun. I don't drink much or have a sweet tooth so my guilty pleasures are cheese and lots of olive oil and butter with my food. Any simple suggestions would be greatly appreciated or I'm going to have to go nuclear and 5:2 it!

Have a great Quest everyone!

Morning Mummycav week two already . Well what can I say my heads been all over the place but so far my feet haven’t been far this week🤣🤣.

So for me my quest for last week was not good either I think I got out once or twice? . So I’m hoping to get out this morning and a couple more times before I head to Yorkshire on Monday and that’s where my quest will take aback seat until I return on the 26th.

There will be lots of steps to record as big brother and I will be going here there and everywhere catching up ( he lost his wife to Covid hence the catching up and remembering ) but not much running.

So there you have it Mummycav that’s my quest for this week.🙋‍♀️xx

My quest is to get back to jogging/running when my poorly ankle is finally better. I had x-ray on Friday, waiting to see now if there's any damage. A friend gifted me a very nice pair of running shoes, really well padded and supportive, they are helping.

Hi Mummycav . I am quite pleased with myself as I stuck to my pledge last week. But come the weekend and the roasting weather, I gave running a miss until today. Still very warm but felt I had to get out and make some effort. Stupidly had it in my head that it was "cool" today, as the temp was so much lower than the last couple of days. So set off to do a slightly longer run. Had to mix walking and running on the way back but very pleased to have done 6.6K, which kind of made up for missing the run on Monday? 😀
