Had a wonderful day out in London yesterday but as I had to rush to catch the train I drove rather than walked to the station. It was my son's birthday so we all met up in the evening for a meal. When I finally got home I decided not to drive, so woke up this morning knowing the car needed to be collected.
It was a beautiful morning but nearly 20,000 steps yesterday, maybe just take it easy today? But that'd be 5 days without a run. Obvious answer - a recovery run.
Mr Y couldn't join me as he was waiting for a delivery so NRC was my running companion. There seem to be a lot of new runs on there. It needed to be short - it's only a km to the car by the shortest route though if I detour through the park it could be longer, plus I wanted my breakfast. Found a run called Recalibrate and Reset, a 20 minute recovery run with Coach Sashah. Haven't run with her before but the blurb looked good, exploring movement to release physical or mental tension.
A lovely easy run - 2/10 or 3/10 effort with lots of emphasis on how you feel as you run. The slowest run I've done for a long time but there was a long gentle uphill slope so definitely a proper workout. I carried on for a little while until I needed to cross a relatively busy road, covering 2.66 km in all. Just what I needed. Saw someone I hadn't seen for ages and had a chat, collected the car then home for breakfast, a great start to the day.
By the way, Mr Y's delivery hasn't come but mine has - a new strimmer as the old one gave up the ghost. That's my afternoon sorted out

Sounds like a very well planned, well executed and enjoyable couple of days! And a lovely run.
That’s me too for the rest of the day, not actually strimming, but shredding, and weeding, digging, what amounts to firefighting the weeds while the sun shines!
We did No Mow May (and half of June too ) so the weeds were knee high on the lawn. My old strimmer's battery died, and as I'd had it about 15 years decided to treat myself to a new corded one. Hard work! Felt very guilty destroying all the habitats but there are still some bees etc
It was so good running in the sunshine after getting what my kids call Museum Leg from a couple of hours at Tate Modern yesterday 😂
Mr PS did no mow for a couple of weeks then remembered how hard it was to mow it back so gave up.. we have enough wild areas in our garden (ie neglected!). I’m too soft hearted to strim for fear of hurting wildlife.. I edge the lawn after he mows, with manual edgers, very slowly, because I hate to chop up even a worm or a slug - and we seem to have a lot of creatures in our garden at the moment. A young frog hopped out of the flower beds just in front of the edging clippers yesterday... I would be so gutted if I injured one! I could never have been any kind of farmer. 🤣🤣
Great decision to get out and run! It sounds like a super one, I haven’t tried that run. I’ve seen a fair few new ones have appeared on NRC recently and it’s great to get some reviews. Will give it a go!
I’m torn between getting out the strimmer or acquiring a flame thrower for my garden. It’s excellent for insects but is most definitely more jungle than English country garden!!! Enjoy the gardening!
That sounds like a great run! I’ve been in need of mental recalibration in the last three or so really busy weeks at work! I’m going to look that one up…
