Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

I ran this morning with my Cocker Spaniel Ruby at my local parkrun. I was going to go touring but forecast was for rain. So I stayed local. It was a lovely morning at the start, but rain arrived with 2K to go. It got pretty heavy. I felt really comfortable and just took it nice and easy and really enjoyed the run. I was delighted with my finish time of 34:13 which is my fastest time this year. Improving bit by bit and I managed to run it all without stopping. Happy running everyone.
Mud avoidance again today. We returned to Burnage to meet a friend because her even muddier parkrun was cancelled. Nearly a minute faster this week so pleased with that. Followed by second breakfast in the rugby club.
Something happened today, but I am not sure what! I set off for my 5k on my woodland trail under the supervision of Emily Infeld. A tempo run, which is fairly new to me; a slow first 7 minutes, stop to stretch, and then maintain a 6/10 effort for 25 minutes. Net result was a 34:48 5k, but the odd thing was that my AHR was 137. This is the first time it has been below 140bpm on a 5k for ages. It was warm at 11 degrees. Maybe our hearts don’t have to work so hard when our internal winter central heating system isn’t called into use🤷♂️. Whatever the reason, that 5k felt better than any have run for months! Off to look at my stats from last spring 😂. Hope everyone had a great morning.
Morning friends. 👋 I’d planned on treating myself to Severn Bridge today, but Jenny needed to stay local as she has a friend staying, but wanted to run. She’s about 23 weeks pregnant and wants to maintain fitness. 💪
So Eastville it was. As I’d planned on running the 5k today at SB, I couldn’t revert to run/walk, so I ran the lot, including all the hills. I felt great, and nice and strong.
RED February and as much yoga as I can squeeze in has kick started my fitness levels. Lucky really as I have a 10k race next weekend! I’ll be fine as it’s as good as flat.
Yes I saw about the 10k. Apparently it was close to being abandoned last year as the traffic control didn’t adhere to their agreed times. We snook over with a minute to spare - you were affected weren’t you?
So the 10k will be on the cycle paths instead. Not quite the same, but I’m still doing it as I LOVE running over the bridge! ❤️
My first one in over 10 months, and the next stage on my post-covid recovery. Managed a very respectable sub-35, so I'm happy with that given that I only got myself back up to running 5k at the end of January.
Good afternoon Damien, this morning I travelled to Fife and ran my 106th parkrun at Dunfermline, #42 there, I was pleased with my time, if I had ran sub 35 minutes I would have been happy, if I had ran sub 34, very happy, so when I saw my result I was very happy with 33:48, the weather was cloudy but dry with no wind and a temperature of 8C, next Saturday I will be the tailwalker at Springburn parkrun.
Thanks BC66, my finishing token was 167, my e-mail said I was position 168, this was due to of all things a FUNNEL DUCKER, I think that's some runner who crosses the finish line but ducks out of the finish funnel without taking a token, this causes problems for the RD.
Tasha99 and I ran at Redcar today. A really lovely 3 lap course in a picturesque park. We both ran well and were pleased with our runs. My first time here and Tasha's third visit.
Back to Southsea today and very busy as a vegan runner meet up pushed numbers up to 485 again. I haven’t run since last Saturday and started well but running alongside one of our regular volunteers meant chatting which I don’t find easy at parkrun pace! Apparently she was using me as a pacer but I let her go ahead and walked a bit to catch my breath. 34:33 parkrun time , 33:53 Garmin, 1st in age group.
This photo was taken by our cone Marshal before the runners arrived! Hopefully they went on to the beach in time.
Well done Dexy5 ! 👏👏 We had 772 again at Eastville. No idea where all these extra runners are coming from. We’re way above even pre covid numbers, and have been all year. 🤷♀️
Good afternoon Damien and all. It was a bit touch and go at Stratford upon Avon today but the waters have receded so we were able to go ahead for our 8th birthday.
Mud surrounded the the front of the pavilion but it had been beautifully decorated in bunting. Our RD did a sterling job of keeping the masses happy by keeping the briefing remarkably short and we only started off 5 minutes late.
I took it quite gently today. My legs were really stiff yesterday and tomorrow is sausage run day so I didn’t want to push it too much. Also, the grassy parts were a complete mud fest and there was debris littering the paths, so we all had to be quite careful (apart from the speedy runners who just float over the course 😂).
Finished in just over 30 minutes. Quicker and easier than I expected but I didn’t overdo it so I’m happy. I don’t understand how I can feel fresher when we were at a concert in Birmingham last night and didn’t get in until just before midnight 🤷♀️ There are mysteries to running that I will never work out!!
I could have sworn I've replied but apparently not.
I plodding/jogged my local parkrun for the last time for about 6 months, as my aching pregnant body just can't run anymore. I was with my boyfriend today and he struggled to keep up with my slow place, and I realised I need to take a break.
I might walk it occasionally but for now I'm happy to volunteer whilst I grow a human.
Well done and take care of the little growing human. My 2 humans are still growing, 14 and 11 year olds. Eating us out of house and home. They are heavy on the wallet and WiFi usage. 😁
Not a parkrun report but a parkrun dream report.During the week I dreamt that I was tailwalking at an event that was more countryside than park. It went on for ages, I can't remember everything. I woke up shortly after having to wait for the last runner to go into not one, but two shops!
What on earth inspired that dream ? Or was it a nightmare?
It certainly wasn't a nightmare Sue, but I don't need to dream about being tailwalker at parkrun, I'll be the tailwalker at the next parkrun I go to next Saturday, ha ha, what I might dream of is to get a sub 30 minute 5k lol.
I am sure you will Sue get back to 35 minutes, my recent times at parkrun have been 36:12, 34:37, 34:03, 33:52 and today 33:48, however, I have not managed to get a sub 31 minutes 5K since I ran 30:50 at Drumpellier Parkrun in August 2022 when I met GTFC and Tasha99 there.
That is correct Dexy5, of the 4 regular parkruns I go to there are no shops on the course, however, from the time I get off the bus or train, on two of them there are shops on the way to the park, no shops at all on the route to the other two, I am sure you didn't like my report yesterday regarding that funnel ducker.
Hello Everyone, Damienair, parkrunners, joggers, walkers, Not Parkrunners.
I reached a first milestone of 25 parkruns today, I’m so pleased because I have been consistent since August 2023, when I told my cholesterol was off the scale. I got such a lovely cheer too.
It was a muddy & wet run, these are fun runs, and for me it’s about getting over the course without falling into the mud. I managed it, yay. I got a time of 33.01 mins.
Last week I was a tourist for the first time going over to my neighbouring parkrun & I got 31.25 it’s a flat course as opposed to the my hilly home course. This tells me I really need to learn/strengthen up running hills. So I’ll try & focus on that
I went to Brockenhurst parkrun in the New Forest today. It was a bit muddy but very beautiful and also a bit hilly. Saw quite a lot of ponies 😍. I’ll do this one again when the sun is shining.
I am JonathanP ! My NENDY is Medina on the Isle of Wight but I think I’ll be doing Great Salterns in your neck of the woods before that one. I do like a bit of tourism 😃.
Hello everyone! After last week’s pain I had another physio appointment on Wednesday and was advised to “avoid running” for the time being. However, as I was on parkrun 97 with plans for my 💯 on 16 March, I decided I had to go today. I chose Doddington Hall, as it’s slightly more scenic than a racecourse or a leisure centre and went for alternating 500m walking/500m gentle jogging and Spotify. Quite pleased to finish in 40.33 and only slight discomfort. RED February is now at walking pace but still on track 😃
No parkrun for me today due to family staying but did manage a (not) parkrun yesterday. Still taking it easy due to ongoing piriformis issues, had a slight ache at the start but better by the end (34.53).
