How did your parkrun or nor(parkrun) go?

Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.

Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).

If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.

For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.

Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend

Unfortunately no parkrun for me this week. I’m away at a work conference. And I’m at a local area where I have not yet done a parkrun but cannot get away. I will do Sligo parkrun another time. Happy running everyone.

It was hot today & I had to work hard for my sub 30. It was also the second week in a row that a snake has been spotted across the path. Summer is on the way 😎

29:31 for me & 27:13 for hubby.

Happy park running to those who can ❤️🏃‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️

Snakes! Oh my! I think I would run extremely fast if I came to your neck of the woods.

It's a treadmill run for me this morning. I started sneezing and feeling grotty yesterday evening and still feel under par this morning. It's cold and wet outside so I don't want to make matters worse. Disappointing as this would have been my 16th parkrun but need to be fit for the charity run in 3 weeks' time. Everyone else, enjoy parkrun today 🏃‍♀️😊

Good morning Damien and all, it’s a bit strange this as, being an hour ahead, it feels later than it actually is.

Amsterdamse Bos parkrun for  Katnap and I this morning. A very busy pre-marathon shake out run. This parkrun normally has on average 122 runners but today it had a smidgen over 500! We also had a visit from Brooks ‘Run Happy’, and they gave us free technical t-shirts! This more than made up for the disappointing ladies souvenir t-shirts that they had a yesterdays Expo which were all pink and pastels, I get so fed up with pink and pastels!

I’d say about 66% of the runners were from the UK, We had a good chat to someone from Tooting who is staying in our hotel and there were people wearing shirts from all over the place.

As usual I went quicker than I meant to but not too much quicker - just over 32mins, and that will do. Yesterday we did 25k steps and I’m not intending to do many more than I’ve already done today, it’s just eat and rest today ahead of what tomorrow brings. Suffice to say that tomorrow I will smash the leadership board of my current 90k step challenge on Garmin 😂

Have a great runny week everyone, see you on the other side 🥳🥳🤗

Very nice. I'm with you on the pinks and pastels. In fact in my Advance Statement (for when I get old!) I stated "don't dress me in beige or in pastels"

I didn't wait to get older 😀I don't have any interest in clothes apart from them being functional. So friends couldn't believe it when I offered to model at a charity fashion show. It was just "fancy dress" to me

Don’t blame you, I’ll be doing the same. I get so fed up with it! I can’t stand pastels, they’re so impractical! I don’t mind good strong colours, even good, strong pinks - but not just for people of my gender!

Parkrun #75 for me and back to my regular PR in the East Midlands. Decided to take this one as it came as it was my first run since the Chicago marathon last weekend. My legs told me to take it easy so I didn't push. Good to be back with the usual crowd.

Today was my 30th parkrun this year and 31st overall. Went to Clapham again with my friend.

No brunch today as his partner was home doing some work, but it was still a lovely run.

It was a gorgeous morning at Portsmouth Lakeside today, with a volunteer roster easily filled given the GSR tomorrow. The recovery continues, two and a half weeks after my hernia repair op, so it was a brisk walk today without any ill after-effects, thank goodness! Only a couple of weeks until some slow jogging is permitted!😀

So happy to know that you are recovering after your recent hernia repair op JP, I didn't go to parkrun today as I was recovering from two vaccination jabs on Friday night, one for Covid 19 on my right arm and a jab on my left arm for flu.

I completely missed reporting last week's run - it was Talkin Tarn and I got a course pb, by seconds.Today was Oldham with some friends who are staying with us. It's a lovely park, beautiful in the autumn sunshine. I was expecting it to be hillier but there is a lovely downhill stretch which is not too steep. A nice cafe for breakfast to finish off.

So that is O ticked off, probably the last alphabet for this year.

Next week we have an AGM to attend so an early start to set up Marple parkrun and do the First Timer Welcome before heading off to our meeting.

Junior RD tomorrow

Hi.

I did my first. parkrun tourism event today, as I’m in East Cornwall, so I thought I’d pop along to Tamar Trails across the border in Devon, and run. Boy, never again! It is so hilly, and I’m used to a relatively flat (!!!) course and this was nothing like flat, with an elevation gain of about 93 meters over the last 1/2k. And that was tough. Well at least I’ve done it so never have to do it again. Well, until the next time I suppose………

On the positive side I came in 83rd, whereas my normal average is about 425th. (Oh did I mention, there were only 91 runners instead of the 450-500 I’m used to!)

Aren’t West Country parkruns notorious for being a bit bumpy Barbie? 😳

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to BarbieW

Ha ha, those Devon hills. The great thing about tourism is you’ve got a PB 1st time. It’s great to experience the different terrains and they are always so welcoming.

Back to Pwllheli this week. Visit 21 and my 83rd parkrun overall.

Weather forecast says it's going to be cold this morning. I dress accordingly. I overdress. What I didn't factor in was the sunshine and the stillness of the air.

A lovely crisp morning. High tide was at 9am, but it wasn't as full as the equinoctal spring tide of two weeks ago. We ran the normal course of 2.5km out and the same distance back. No chance of getting lost. 😉

I was surprised to see that one of the regular marshals (and occasional run director) was running today, and she had a black 100 parkruns shirt on, too.

Anyway, as we were up the beach on the softer sand due to the high tide, the going was a bit more difficult than my previous run here.

I'd had a tummy bug earlier in the week and am still recovering from it. I had less energy at the start than I expected, got to about 3km and had to drop to walk/run intervals again.

Afterwards chatted until I remembered I had to meet someone in town at 10am. I made it (just) in time.

Official result: 33:44, finishing 32 out of 44.

Turnaround point. A single orange cone on the beach. Runners approach from middle distance

That must be so energy sapping, but sounds like fun.

I was on ‘set up’ duty this morning so I caught a lovely atmospheric shot across the river on my way the the venue. Also had a good run with some negative splits (which I’m told are a good thing!!).

Morning runners. Sorry I’m a day late, but I volunteered at Eastville yesterday with Flossie. My usual post number 7, and quite a few weary runners stopped for a Flossie Boost (a cuddle) after the short steep hill up from the lake. 🥰

It was a beautiful morning and it made for smiley runners. Jenny ran, and did it in just over 30 minutes.

GSR today and it’s going to be fun! 😀

My goodness, it’s been so busy this weekend, I’m late. It was the 2nd parkrun on our new route and people are still going to the old route start , and arriving late, very hot and sweaty ! The website and socials are correct but I haven’t been able to get the 5k app to change the info. Warning note to all, it’s always worth checking the parkrun website (news) and/or facebook page if you are visiting a different parkrun, even if you have been there before. Also, check parkrun.org.uk/cancellations/ as parkrun events may have to cancel due to landlord advice or weather conditions.

We volunteered this week as we were doing The Great South Run on Sunday.
