Hello everyone, Instructor57 has asked me to host November's Quest, the weather has been very mild and unseasonably warm for the time of year which is good for us runners, so I like most runners have only had to wear a T Shirt, usually one of my parkrun T Shirts nad shorts when I am out running, the weather people tell us that it will get colder in around 2 weeks in the middle of the month.

So what is Quest? Quest takes one calendar month, you can join it at any time during the month, the goals aare

1:-to run three times a week, 2:-to slowly increase distance. 3:-to train for a specific race 4:-to add stretch and strength exercises to your weekly routine.

This is a personal challenge so it's completely up to you if you wish to join, if you do comment below with something like "I would like to join November's Quest" or count me in" I will look forward to hearing from you during November

Hi AlMorr, thanks for hosting this month’s quest 👍🏻 It has been really warm up to now to the point of sweating bucketloads even on my short run last week. Shorts weather might not last much longer but I’m holding out as long as I can 😜

I’m hoping to slightly increase my current furthest distance of 10k just so I will feel confident enough to run a 10k run in December around Tatton Park, I’m really looking forward to it now.

Good luck to everyone with their quests this month.

Hi Dendev75, welcome to the November Quest, running in warm weather does make many runners sweat, I wish you luck for increasing your distance of 10K for that run in December around Taton Park

Hi AlMorr hope you're well and thanks for hosting the quest this month. I have certainly been enjoying this mild October weather. It's been fantastic for running 🤗I would like to join the quest this month and my quests are as follows:

1) run at least 3 times a week

2) continue with garmin coach HM plan for race in November

3) finish first HM race in November

4) do at least 2 cross training sessions a week - one should be strength

5) run at least 2 new parkruns to tick off my alphabet challenge - one in Lincoln

6) have at least 1 rest day a week

Do you have quests yourself that you would like to do?

Wish me luck! 🍀

Thanks jogger22 on joining the November Quest, you are welcomed, I think we all have enjoyed the mild weather, there were no frost atoll where I live in Central Scotland, I have never known a frost free October.

I wish you particularly the best for your first Half Marathon race and your 2 cross sessions a week, of course you must have at least one day a week for a rest. 😊, my quest is to keep running at parkrun and tomorrow Wednesday to run ten miles as I have not ran that distance since last November, I will continue to do my other exercises like yoga, planks and now it's November go for long Sunday morning walks, I also attend a Thursday morning walking group.

Thanks AlMorr I hope you enjoy your 10 mile run tomorrow. I don't know where in Central Scotland you will be but looking at the bbc weather forecast it looks like heavy rain in Dunfermline just before lunchtime for the rest of the day so don't know if you want to get out early in the morning and run to avoid the downpour. Good luck with all your other quests especially running your parkruns. Your walking group sounds nice - is that always in the countryside or do you walk in town too? 🤗

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply toJogger22

I think I have mentioned Cumbernauld, 12 miles from Glasgow is the town in Central Scotland that I live in, although Dunfermline is my "home parkrun" the reason being that year's before I went there for parkrun and for that matter before Dunfermline parkrun began I travelled to Dunfermline and went a walk around the park that the parkrun is ran, I have been going these walks since 2010, usually once a month on a Friday and have got to know many people, so when I found out in 2019 that there was a Saturday morning parkrun in that park I made Dunfermline parkrun my home parkrun, in August a new parkrun, Palacerigg parkrun began in Cumbernauld but I will keep Dunfermline as my home parkrun, tomorrow I hope to complete that ten mile run before the rain starts.

hello AlMorr! Superthanks for hosting this month’s quest!

For my runs I had already changed to using long-sleeved t-shirts and a vest. But all of this has come again to an abrupt halt due to my pulled leg muscle.

All my rowing and running is on hold.

So I’ll be focussing on slow recovery.

🔲 Week 1 (this week): yoga and targeted exercises (upper back; calf muscles)

🔲 Week 2: walk, yoga, targeted exercises and gentle rowing

🔲 Week 3: run and row, targeted exercises, maybe yoga when I can fit it in

So hopefully by end of November, I’m 🔲 back to my normal routines of running and rowing, but will attempt to add regular yoga again.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10

Sorry about your pulled leg muscle CBDB, I hope it won't be long before you fully recover before you can run and row again after a slow recovery, that list of the four weeks in November I am sure will help you to recover so by the end of November you will be back to your normal routine of running and rowing, I wish you all the very best

Great to see another quest post. I love the clean sheet at the start of the month! Thanks for hosting AlMorr . I feel like I’m never dressed properly at the moment. I’m always too hot for conditions! Bring on the proper October cold.

This month I’m planning on focussing a bit more on strength and flex. Swimming is going to get an additional target of increasing the amount of front crawl from a very low base! I really enjoy yoga and it’s great for me so I’m going to try and get into a more regular routine of doing it.

I’ve decided to work on my parkrun 5k time over the winter and I’m aiming for a reduction of about two and a half minutes on my current PR. That was run at a very hilly course before I’d done most of my half marathon training so I think if I actually go out and properly try to run a quick (for me!) 5k, I’m probably already a good chunk into that. I haven’t set an end date for that challenge yet or found a plan yet!

So in target form ready for ticks…

At least three runs a week-one speed, one long.

One swim per week with more front crawl than the previous week.

One yoga class a week.

Two park runs this month.

That looks achievable!

AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply toMissUnderstanding

Hi Miss Understanding, so you are looking forward to colder weather, they say it will come around the middle of the month, so your quest is to do a quick 5K, run 3 times a week,(one of those runs could be the quick 5K if you want ) a yoga class a week and two parkruns as well, good 🤞 luck

Hi Al, lovely to see you hosting the Quest this month. 😀

Yes it’s been so warm hasn’t it? We’ll all get a shock when the weather reverts to normal.

My Quest is a bit of a stuck record, and I hope I can do better than last month. It’s not hard; just to run 3 or 4 times a week and hopefully fully regain my post viral leg muscle fatigue (getting cheesed off with it taking so long), and continue doing regular yoga.

Last month was a bit meh (except the awesome GSR), so let’s see if I can get my act together in November. 🤞😀

AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply tocheekychipmunks

Good morning CC, good post from you, that's the way to do it, run 3 or 4 times a week and enjoy it, that will help you to regain your post viral leg muscle fatigue, talking about longer runs, I do have one Quest for November and that's to run ten miles tomorrow as I havn't run that distance since last November.

Hi Al and congratulations on being chosen to lead this month’s Quest. I have decided not to set myself any goals for November, as October was so full on, but I am going to have at least 2 HU meet ups at parkrun 😃

Hi AlMorr and fellow questers

I agree with you about the weather is been ridiculously warm for the time of year. But t's made my mad goal of wearing shorts for at least one run in very month of the year much easier 😂😂

My plan are fairly straightforward

* To complete two 10ks during the month

* To work on leg strength, through squats, a Pilates for knees workout and my glute physio exercises which has - been a bit neglected recently.

Thanks for keeping us accountable this month.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply todijep

Thanks dijep and well done on hosting October's Quest, my Quest is fairly similar each month although tomorrow I am hoping to run my 6th ten miles run. I like to wear shorts all the time I am cycling and when running unless it's very cold. I wish you luck for your running and those other exercises like Pilates.

Hello Al, lovely to see you hosting the quest.

My quest is

🔥 Continue 3 runs a week

🔥 Increase distance of one run ready for a 10k race in December

🔥 Attend a pilates session every week

🔥 Run at least 1 tourist parkrun, and attempt a parkrun PB at home.

Very similar to last month in fact!

I hope November goes with a bang for you all. 💥

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply toDexy5

Excellent Dexy5, yes the 5th November should go like a bang, good luck with your Quests for this month and especially to get a PB at your home parkrun which I know where it is but won't mention it here, I wish you luck for that 10K race in December, it probably won't be the only run in December, apart from parkruns December is also the month for Christmas 5K Santa Dash runs, so I assume you will want to run in one of them, sadly I don't think that the council where I live are holding a Santa Dash due to financial issues.

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply toAlMorr

I’m looking at the Santa Run but haven’t booked up yet. There is a 5k or 10k to choose from.

Hello and how wonderful to see you here. Thank you for doing this!

Please chase me if I do not appear by next time!

My Quest... simple

*To keep the runs going, at least two a week and three when possible... run when able and ease off if the body says no. No pushing too hard.

*Maintain my routines for strength and stamina work

*Maintain my current body weight and try to put on a couple more lbs.!

Happy, safe Questing all!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply toOldfloss

Hello again Oldfloss, I would never chase you, well done on running at least 2 or 3 times a week and congratulations on your routines on maintaining your current body weight. This morning I "over quested", I mean that my Quest for this month was to run at least 1/10 miles run, I did do that this morning but continued to run almost the Half Marathon distance, at 10 miles I felt fine, had a short 2 minutes walk and continued to run until I had been running for 2 hours and 45 minutes, the distance I ran was 20.59 Kilometres which isn't all that far off Half Marathon distance, however, as I had never intended to run that distance I am not too concerned, it would have been a different story if I had intended to run a HM and had to give up at 20.59 kilometers absolutely shattered, as it was I thought running for 2 hours 45 minutes was long enough, I am feeling fine now and look forward to seeing my friends at my Thursday morning walking group tomorrow at 10.30.

Hi AlMorr , thanks for hosting.

This month I am aiming to:

- run 3 times a week

- do at least one Parkrun and

- do a couple of longer runs (around 8 km)

- these are preparation for the Southend Rudolph Run on 11th December. I haven't signed up yet but will do that as part of this bit of the Quest by the end of the month. It's five miles along the Promenade and a flat course so should be doable, weather and avoiding injury permitting.

So maybe that's another Quest goal - don't hurt myself :)

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10

Good luck to you Yesletsgo on your Quest for November, especially training for that Rudolf Run in December, I am sure you will be able to run 3 times a week and run at least one parkrun as well, 8K is a good distance, most runners, including myself can run that in around one hour approximately. I certainly hope that you won't get a injury.
