Recently somebody posted a YouTube video with advice for us “maturer” runners.

Can someone please repost it so I can put it on my YouTube favourites. It really was useful.

That’s the one! Thank you, orangeguy. Blooming heck, I’d forgotten they meant runners over just 50 !! That’s young.

That's a helpful video, thanks!

I enthusiastically downloaded a Runners World podcast recently, entitled "How to run faster as you get older" - utterly dismayed to hear that they meant runners over 30 😱😱😱

I love age grading at parkrun, I consider 50% as average when the parkrun results come on a Saturday, most of my age grading %have been around 55%, some as high as 62%, so don't worry regarding running when you are a bit older and if you are over 60, don't run as fast as if you were 30.

Runners World need a good shaking for that attitude - not only is it ageist, it yet again assumes that faster is everything. Pillocks. Some of us actually prefer different challenges, like off-road and vertical.

I can easily run faster than at 30. At that age I was usually sitting on a sofa smoking 20 a day, drinking beer and using the TV remote. Nevertheless Ww - 30 !!!

Thanks for sharing this. I started running this year at 70. Struggled to complete week 1 run 1 first minute. Today I ran for 60 minutes continuous (6000% improvement) with a 15% improvement in pace over the whole run! No its not bragging rights (well.....😇) , but I only have today's benchmark for comparison!! Still a good video I'm sure which I'm tempted to forward to my nearly 50 year old son 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. And to my nephew who at 45 is a crock with 'sports acquired injuries', I clearly have a few years to catch up.
