I was taken by the idea of RED January (sorry, can’t remember whose post I read), so I’ve decided to start with 2km every day. It’s doing wonders for my mental health. Even in new trail shoes, the mud was too much though. I gave up and turned tail part way down the towpath, because it was more of a boggy mire than a path. New CLEAN shoes are now a distant memory. I think they used to be black…
… can’t quite remember.

Great idea Baddie - at least you got out today. I only managed 15 mins of an excruciating hill today but I am congratulating myself for getting off the sofa! Good luck with RED!!! 💪🏃♀️
Mud, mud, mud, glorious mud, but not to run in even on good trail shoes, that photo reminds me of a short part of my regular 5K route around the loch near to where I live, I have to slow down or go a short diversion through some trees, happy New Year to you BaddieThePirate. 😊 🏃🏾
Looks just like the woods right now. My last 2 runs (in shorts) have resulted in legs splattered with mud. I think the shower trap now needs unblocking!😁
Well done & good luck for RED January! I was full of good intentions to do it too - went out for New Year's Day lunch after a negative lateral flow test, went for a run after & felt totally fine, then 3 hours later felt a bit rough (cough, headache etc.). Tested positive next morning, so now in 10 days isolation. Amazed by how quickly it took over. So - good luck again - I'll have another go in February hopefully (& I missed my 2 year runniversary as well 😫🤒).
