Thereā€™s too much that is negative going around at the moment.

And that includes ā€œnegative splitsā€.

So letā€™s hear it for us in the Positive Splits Club. šŸ‘

Itā€™s so easy: just start your run like the clappers; realise in the second km that youā€™ll never keep it up; then gradually get slower and slower until the last km when snails dragging bags of coal start overtaking you.

Simples.

Happy running!!!

Ha ha HeavyFoot, there is nothing wrong with negative splits, negative splits are when the second part of a run is ran a little quicker than the first part OR at least many of the 1K splits are quicker than the previous one, positive splits, hmmmm, yes, as the run goes on each K is slower than the previous one, I don't often get negative splits, usually positive splits, however, on my last 10 miles run a few weeks ago I had 3 negative splits on the final 3 kilometers of that run. šŸƒšŸ¾

Brilliant šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

I done it today. Cast away the negativity šŸ˜

My preference is the banana split, where you start out a bit too fast, have a little lull in the middle then develop a spring in your step when the end is in sight šŸŒ

One way to ensure positive splits is to run by heart rate - keeping it in the same place for the duration of your run. For the same reason that if you try and keep the same pace the heart rate increases, if you try and keep your HR the same, your pace decreases!

Iā€™ve just checked this out. My average HR for the first km this morning was just 99. I could have dropped to a brisk walk afterwards then stopped for a coffee. All at 99. Thanks for the tip!
