In the nicest possible way?

On my regular 30 minute consolidation run just now I went past a walking Norwegian lady with whom I often exchange a few words.

“Beautiful morning”, I said.

“Yes”, she said. “And you are almost running.”

A bit harsh I thought 🤔

Maybe it was a linguistic hiccup, but ouch. Get on the trails, you're allowed to walk there!

Seriously, though, it's a shame that some people seem to think you're only running if you're hammering along, and ideally gasping for breath into the bargain. My own gremlins are now whispering that I didn't run enough of the time, or fast enough, or suffer enough on Saturday, so it wasn't a proper mara. If anyone else said that, I'd tell them not to be ridiculous, but if it's myself, I'm hyper-critical.

You're out there running at your pace HeavyFoot , allez, bravo !

I think what you did on Saturday was amazing. I’d think twice about walking that distance.

That remark can just be laughed at.

I sometimes wonder what the many runners who effortlessly zip past me think of this old bloke puffing along in the slow lane, but then my goal is to improve my well being and enjoy myself doing it - not to impress anyone - which is a good job!

The other day MyFitness (linked to my Garmin account) told me I needed to eat MORE!!! 😍 RESULT!!! 🤣

The thing is, it makes the effortless runners feel even better about themselves. We should be paid for such a service.

Well done on Mrs Garmin’s dietary advice 🍕🍩🧁

Ouch! I think I would have cried 😭😂

Ouch! Sting! A little uncalled for I think. I hope you have planned a retort for your next exchange? 😀

I shall rise above it. 😇No mention of the slaughter of monks at Lindisfarne.

That was a bit harsh HF but let’s be kind and put it down to a translation error! Though had she said it to me I’d have agreed with her - ‘almost running’ is probably me to a tee! But you were out there and not on the couch so all’s well!

Let's assume you misheard her, she said: alWAYS running (when she sees you).😉

Oh lord, that made me laugh...I'd like to think it's the language barrier and she meant jogging 😂

😂😂 ooops! Not even sure if what I do would be classed as almost running. Many people walk faster than I ‘run’ !
