It seems only fitting, as I keep saying my current running goal is “just to keep running for my mental health”! 🙏
Like many of us, I have found the strange times we are living through quite tricky at times. To keep my anxiety in check, running has really been a life saver. There are days when I have found it hard to get out on my run, making excuses in my head like we all do - but never one that I regretted once it was done!
As I work in a school, I have the long summer holiday ahead of me now, so have signed up for Miles for Mind, which runs throughout the whole of August. I have not gone crazy - just aiming for the 50 mile challenge which fits in with my average running distances during the summer. First 6 miles (10k) towards that total run this morning.✔️🙂
I have posted a link in case anyone else is interested - you can sign up to run anything from 25-200miles I think (😳).
Well done Sandraj39 I’ve signed up for Miles for Mind too! It’s going to be a great challenge. I think there’s a Facebook group too if you need support.I’ve only signed up for 25 miles this time as I’m recovering from injury but I’ve done over 3 miles this morning so I’m off to a good start! 🏃♂️👍
Well done Sandra, runr is a Southsea independent company and they provide amazing support to this important issue. They love parkrun too (who doesn’t?). I will join you and sign up for the August challenge - I’ve just got to get away from watching the olympics, which I’m really loving !
Well done Sandraj39 …running has helped so many people through these strange times, mental health is so important and for so long went unrecognised…thank goodness it’s a ‘thing’ now…50 miles is a very respectable distance challenge, I’ve signed up for 25 this month as I’m just starting to get back into the ‘working’ world after staying at home for 18 years to look after my children so running is being squeezed in here and there, still need to do 3 runs a week, that’s a goal that I’ve had like forever…any less & im really not happy with myself!!! Enjoy your summer holiday…don’t forget to get your feet up some of the time too 😉😊 xx
Good luck with your new job Mummycav - it can be tricky fitting everything! My goal is always to try and do 3 runs a week. I mostly do but sometimes I might only get out once after work. The really hot days of summer are the hardest because I really can’t squeeze in a run before work and hate running in the heat! I don’t give myself too hard a time if life gets in the way - that would defeat the goal of running for mental well-being a bit! 🤣
