Annual leave day, so out for a long run (time wise). Had donned my running gear this rainy morning but as my weather app suggested a clear few hours if I just would wait a bit, I decided to do my yoga in the morning (inside today) and once it hit 1pm, the weather cleared up.
So out for a route I’d done only once before. It goes all over the fields, up and down rolling country lanes and paths, navigating grassy verges, one stile and various kissing gates.
Weather perfect, but it was a bit of a slog. Not sure why? The time of day, the unevenness of the path, the lack of familiarity with the route, or all of it together?
Nevertheless I did welcome the notion that I can do slogs.
A run is a run is a run.
Happy running everyone!

Sometimes a run is hard for no obvious reason. My recent runs have been more of a slog than usual, but that's because I'm trying to change my gait to fix an injury. I've also been getting faster as a side effect.
But the important thing is you got those legs moving today.
Indeed! And there is that thing of being proud of sloggling! When a run is fun it’s always easier, but getting through a hard one is a feat in itself! 💪👍🏽😂
Like you say CBDB and I totally agree a run is a run! It looks beautiful too and very similar to my running routes that I take. So I absolutely know what a sloggle is 😂😂🏃♀️🏃♀️🥵 Anyway good on you for getting out there👍👏🏃♀️x
A sloggle is still a run and that's what counts! Might indeed be the time of the day, I know my runs are generally easier the earlier in the day it is.
Nothing wrong with a slog once in a while CBDB, I always found it helped with the next run 🏃🏻♀️try the route again and see how it feels then. Looking forward to our local route discussions soon 😊🙌👏🏃🏻♀️
It sounds and look a lovely route to run our walk. I really think the time of day makes a big difference, lunchtime or afternoon runs always feel harder than morning ones to me. As you say a run is a run 😊👍🏃♀️
Definitely! My plan is now to use this topsy turfy route to train back up to 10k. The last time I did this, it was on even paths, so doing it this time on this uneven, wandering, winding, grassy knoll at times hilly path will be good for my ankles, I think, if not for my time. But who cares about time? 🐌🐌🐌🐌
