Have been doing 4 x 4.5 km walks this week early morning before work and did a 7.5 km this morning in 1 hour 15 . Still got back and feet problems but hey ho a least doing some sort of exercise. Not sure if will get back running scared in case do damage to back with stress fracture and the pounding but will see what happens 😊

The way I usually test myself is to do a very short run as part of a longer walk, eg. between two lamp posts, and then continue walking.

Walking is good and as others say you can always test yourself with a very short run, but it sounds as if this will take some time

Yes it will don’t want to push it as have severe osteoporosis in hip as well πŸ™‚

Sounds like you are doing really well with all your walking .. you will know when and if you want to start running again and if you decide it’s not worth the risk, then keep on walking .. it’s just as good for you .. probably better as there is less stress on your body πŸ€—

Thanks enjoying the walking not had a rainy morning yet might think different then. Will have to look for a cover to keep phone dry. 😊

That sounds nasty - good to see you are taking it .....easy? Your walking speed is only slightly slower than my running! Hope you recover soon.

Not going too fast on shorter distance. Doctor says to keep walking . Have a couple of rest days to recover. Googled a different way of walking for plantar fasciitis and not to heel strike but whole foot down so your not stretching it and shorter steps. Found this not jarring back .

You walk fast! But if the walking feels good for you and you don't miss the running too much, you can stick to walking, no? It is healthy, running is fun but walking can be healthier not having the shocks.

Will do walking for a while longer and maybe try again later on . I miss it but think about the bones in case of fractures or go a lot slower jogging .

I’m still suffering with my feet as well. Off for an X-ray on Tuesday as it might be a stress fracture 😞Hope you get better soon 🀞🏻

Well done on the walking Doris8 - 7.5k in 75 minutes is about my running pace at the moment so you could probably overtake me. When I see you striding past, I’ll give you a cheery hello! I’m sure you won’t try to run too soon - enjoy those walks!

Having patience with your body is the best thing you can do for it, and is probably also the hardest!

So huge thumbs up from me. My experience is that once you are a runner, it is too easy to follow your feeling of fitness , and not take your joints, bones, ligaments and tendons into consideration. But these are getting stronger at a slower pace than your lungs and aerobic abilities.

So wishing you patience but it sounds like you’re doing exactly what your body needs!

Thank you. Going to have a lot of patience with this plantar fasciitis. Wearing Skechers at work not helped on feet all day. Nerve stabbing most of day up ankle think tarsal tunnel. Icing feet just now. πŸ˜•
