Don't know what's going on with my feet!!

So, I injured my left ankle a couple of months ago and couldn't run for three weeks. Then I went for a couple of very short runs, left ankle was fine, but my right knee was agony! Back to the physio. Didnt run for another couple of weeks, during which time both of my feet had strange twinges, at times. Went for 4 runs, over the next a couple of weeks, running for ten minutes and walking for 2. Everything felt fine. Got the OK from the physio to go out without the breaks (which were for the original injury). Ran for 30 mins with no walking. The next day my right ankle was hurting, at the top and back of the foot. So things like walking & driving have been painful.

Running usually makes me feel younger, but at the moment I feel like an old crock!!

Ankle strengthening exercises? I think most of us just don't do enough strengthening. It's the main thing that keeps you out of injury hell - that and some good cool down stretches. I hope it gets better for you.

Thank you & yes. Before v the first injury I was up to 17k and I hadn't ever done any strengthening exercises!

The problem is we only tend to turn to the injury prevention stuff after we've had an injury. That was my big mistake. The strengthening exercises are demanding in terms of time and energy and I was wondering why I needed to do these things when I was ok for the most part. I now realise that it's all about prevention and you need a full work out however good you feel. I use the routines put out by the Running Channel on Youtube. They're very doable.

Thank you and yes! I had been aware that I should probably do something, but I was too lazy!!

A million times this ^I'm the same, I've been having some issues with my right foot on and off. The problems started after I started running 10k's. It improves when I do calf / ankle strengthening exercises, then I stop doing them because I feel better, and the problems come back. I must be more disciplined.

Thanks, yes physio says calf exercises are particularly important.

This injury business is very frustrating 😤But as the others have said we ignore the strength stuff until we start to suffer then have a tenancy to stop it when we get better. Obviously what we should all be doing is strength work from day 1, but it's easy to say harder to do 😂

Thanks for the reminder about calf exercises I keep forgetting them.

Good luck x
