Tiny 3k run... did I say tiny?

Just back from a short 3k lunchtime run, and I retraced my old C25k route from last year where the mud monsters are slowly retreating. First 3k for a while, as 5k is now my standard.

But I started on that route on 10 April with W1R1 of C25k last year, and look at my runs now! The first gentle hill just leaves me unimpressed. The second more substantial hill, the one that made me stop to catch my breath? Now it is no problem. Just a bit of slowing down will do the trick. And once back home I feel not exhausted but rejuvenated (whilst sweaty)! The weather was also great, a warm wind following me en route!

It’s great to retrace the early routes, and experience how far one has come in one’s fitness journey!

Happy running everyone!

That sounds like you've had a lovely outing. Funny how we can now casually say we've just run 3k 😉

It's nice to reminisce on your earlier runs of C25K, coming up to the 10th of April when it will be your first runniversary on starting C25K, although I have never completely rerun the whole program I still have the app and sometimes do runs from it.

Yes, I’m wanting to do something around that time to celebrate that Runniversary but not clear yet what!

I suggest that you run a 10K or 10 miles if you have already ran a 10K, but of course the final decision is for you to decide.

Yeah! My first 10k I’ll be on Easter, so that would be a week later. 👍🏽

I’m revisiting the C25k week 5 runs this week and just about to head out on run 2 shortly. It is a really nice trip down Memory Lane and, as you rightly said, a lovely reminder of how far we have come. Nothing tiny about it! Enjoy 😊

That's lovely to retrace your steps and celebrate how far you've come. Funny how a 30 minute run is now just a short doddle rather than the amazing thing it was back in c25k days!

I love that feeling after a good run CBDB ! It’s a great too, to reflect back on how far we’ve come on our running journeys ...stronger, faster, longer! (well, not that much faster at the moment, for me actually!🤣)

Thank you, same here. Strength, fitness and distance all have increased ... speed ... not so much. But I have come to terms with that and am now a confidently slow snail! Still a runner, though! 👍🏽😃☺️🏃🏿‍♀️

Thank you, yes. After finishing my training dir the 10k I must add this 3k to my regular routes again. It’s a beauty of a run.

I totally agree CBDB, on your C25k route, you see points where you used to stop to catch your breath or struggle, which you now sail past and that’s just so satisfying and reaffirms what a life changing journey it is.

3k is a nice comfortable distance, I wouldn’t call it tiny, hasn’t always got to be 5k, we kind of set 5k as a short run benchmark for some reason, crazy how our minds work isn’t it. 🤷‍♂️

Yea. Definitely. And thanks. Yes, I need to remind myself that 3k is still giving me a good workout. I had gotten used to doing weekly 2x 5ks plus one extending long run.

But this was more to do with routes, as my winter routes are naturally between 4.7 and 5.4K. So it’s nice to have a 3k route back and mud free for the summer.

It was such a lovely day for running yesterday wasn't it. I too did a gentle 3.5k. Its so great to see the countryside waking up and the blossom cheering it on.

Well done! It's nice to see / feel that your fitness level has improved eh? Definitely worth all the huffing and puffing in those first weeks 😉

I've graduated from C25K for five months and I have noticed a positive difference in my fitness, I can easily run for 30 minutes and I can do 5K in 33-34 minutes. when I was consolidation I started to notice that I was recovering quicker breathing wise, but still sweaty. 😀

Woohoo! Yes, it’s great when you notice the improvement. I remember being able to run down a hill for the first time. Before i had to really be careful with my knees, they felt so feeble and painful. They also got stronger!

Great stuff!
