Finally decided on trail shoes

After much dithering, searching around for what's suitable, what's available and something I can return if it doesn't fit me, I've finally ordered a pair of trail shoes!

They seem to be well rated for trail running and they've well cushioned so I should be OK on tarmac. They're due to arrive on Wednesday, I just hope they fit OK.

Next step, after trying them around the house, is to wear them in a bit then see how I cope with the trails.

Good choice! I wear Hoka Speedgoats for trails and mixed terrain and then the Hoka Arahi’s on roads. A great shoe IMO but then I am a big Hoka fan.!😃👟Hope they suit you too! 👍🙂

I'm just wondering if the fit of the Arahi's is similar to the Speedgoats? I do love my speedgoat s 😍

They do have a very different feel dijep - a soft upper, lighter than the Speedgoats and not as ‘bouncy’ but ultimately still supportive. I had a lot of problems with my IT band/knee a while back and on top of exercises, it was the Arahi that seemed to make a big difference for me. I still call them my magic shoes! 👟✨

Ultimately it’s hard to know whether a shoe will suit us until we’re out there running in it I think. I have bought a few that didn’t work out but Hoka seem to suit me. Good luck.🙂

Thanks for that. It's even more difficult with on line being the only option at the moment. I'm going to try an on line gait analysis and see if that helps.

Arahi fit bigger than other Hoka shoes I think.

Just checked - yes, my Arahis are half a size smaller than my Speedgoats.

My Arahi's are 1 size bigger than my regular shoe size, don't know if that's helpful, but I do love them ❤♥

Fabulous 😍

I've got a pair speedgoats and really like them.

Bet you can't wait to give them a go

Yeah! A lack of trail shoes has been holding back my training. If they feel OK round the house, I'll probably try them out for a 5k on Thursday. I'm planning an HM run on Friday which will mean road shoes so might not hit the trails till the following weekend.

They look nice. Seems a really deep sole .

The event I've signed up for is on a mixture of mud and tarmac. Since I'm used to padded road shoes, I'm looking for padded trail shoes that can cope with such mixed terrain.

These shoes are unbelievable! They’re even more comfortable than Hoka road shoes! Boing boing! Go a size up I feel.

A whole size, not even a half size? Sounds like I might have to send them back and order a bigger pair. Guess I just need to wait until they arrive.

They look fab. I hear loads if good stuff about speedgoats. I have a pair of Salomon Speed cross in a similar blue colour. They are fantastic in soft mud but I wouldn't run on tarmac in them

The event I've signed up for has a mix of trail and tarmac so I either need a pair of shoes that can handle both or I need to take a second pair with me. Hopefully, these will do the trick.

Well, the SpeedGoats arrived in my size; I couldn't get my feet in them they were so small 😢.

Anyhow, I ordered another pair direct from Hoka, size 11 wide this time (all my other shoes are 9.5). They seem to fit OK. So far, I've only tried them running down the hall but wow they're bouncy!
