Researching our route, I found this article on the town of Chersky/Cherskiy, which is our next destination. It has some impressive photos and a reminiscence on the town’s changing fortunes. (The article was for the London gallery Calvert 22.) Especially amused by the closing comment that ‘there is simply no place to run’!!

COGH: Chersky photos
Wow, I’m glad we’re running through it virtually, rather than in reality. It looks a bit remote and chilly to me!😳🥶
Thanks for your research GailXrunning, Great find, great photos!
I have added a link to the page on Chersky:

Keep them coming - it all adds to the interest to know more about the places along the way.
Haha! Just spotted that this is already on our COGH site!
It looks really bleak - not my kind of place at all. But we’re keeping warm by running and walking, enjoying the winter landscapes and looking forward to all the places we’re going to visit over the next months.
What an amazing looking place! So remote, a little spooky!
Reading about the depopulation was striking - the scale of it.
Bleak and beautiful but oh so cold,
What a brilliant find @GailXrunning! I was captured right from the little snow-covered chapel onwards. I have been to Russia (not Siberia!!) and those red tablecloths took me right back. And the innocuous looking little glasses that look like water and are so often vodka. 😯😳 And the lovely, hospitable people who always make it a party even when they have very little to share. Thank you.
Interesting info! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
The old saying "being sent to Siberia" the dictator Stalan sent thousands of people there during the 30's and 40's if they did not agree with him.
It looks like a place where you would want to run through very quickly, just as well it's virtual.
I read that article about Chersky/Chersky
the temperature is around - 30C at this time of the year.
Stunning photos! Nowhere to run huh? That's the power of teamwork 😀
Amazing, thank you, wow, would love to go on an arctic expedition and see the wildlife 😀
Thanks GailXrunning .That looks really interesting. I will read it properly after my run
What an amazing insight into a very unknown place. The pics are very thought evoking. It must be a very challenging place for the few people who now live there. Thanks so much Gail for finding this. 👍
