I wanted to be lazy today, until prompted by a teenager to run 🀭

β€’24 Replies

The last night shift of the week, the gremlins were weaving their anti-run spells and very nearly, like nearly almost I succumbed, kettle T.V , and that weather hmmmm drizzly-mizzle do I want to get cold 🀨. I could always run on Saturday !?!?

Then pipes up teenager 2...

"Why aren't you running today?"

Gremlin attack, unseen - unheard grrrr

No sooner than I was making track's towards the kettle device, my legs detoured.. taking me towards trainers and running gear...... But but but coffee.....

Too late laces are being tied quick swig of water and I'm out πŸ₯Ά tis chilly the first thoughts..... Oh well..

Subconsciously I knew I wanted to run, yesterday was rest day. I'd planned to avoid tarmac and mix it up a little for Friday, which meant the brooks cascadia are on my feet and maybe a few muddy slopes and leaf strewn trails.

I light jogged shaking off any gremlin stragglers and quickly pheweeee found myself running.. tis only about 1k to where the road gives access to the trails I wanted today, and yep I'm engulfed in leaves, mud and shingle but it's sooo good and the angle of the trail really makes the legs work. It's more of an involving run I always find, looking where I'm going, watching what's underfoot, it really does focus you on the different aspects of this running malarkey... The trail ends to let a road cut through it, then continues upwards taking me with it.

The views quite picturesque today over the Llangollen valley and beyond towards the distant Cheshire landscape. Magical.

As the trail ends it gives way to the top of my village and steep downward narrow lanes, that switch direction this way and that ↩️β†ͺ️‴️‡️.

I'm probably no more than 2k from home, but it's a whole new world. The lane cuts upwards sharply to a farm and I kinda new where I was headed, I've seen the trail-type lane on earlier runs and never ventured, today though πŸ‘ I'm a mountain 🐐 in my 4wd brooks chiffon ek it's got grooves, ruts slippy cobble type rocks and it's definitely involving just staying upright... I was nearly glad to see the end in sight (must try that lane again I thought).

Slopes and lanes behind me, it's a nice cool off 1k back to home, and though I'd never tell her, but that teenager (number 2) actually have me the nudge I needed this morning.......

I may do it all again tomorrow we'll see πŸ€«πŸ™‚

Stay safe keep healthy and carry on running folks

What a fantastic run, and great stats. My stats always show shades of blue with my new low HR running but it does wonders for my vo2max which is not quite on your nice purple but only 1 point away. It’s wonderful that you have such caring teenagers they remind you to go out and have fun. Happy running πŸ€—

Thank you GrannyH, teenagers are still a mystery though especially the female variety 🀭, luckily I'm not a the " we'll throw a party age" or I'd be a tad suspicious 😎.

I'm a bit glad I ran though, even if only to keep that shade of purple, as apparently it means I'm getting fitter and healthier 🀨

Twas sooooo nice πŸ‘πŸ‘

Gotta love a trail run and you're right, it's way more focused. I find the time goes way more quickly for me because I'm distracted by watching my footing and making sure I stay safe and injury free. 😁

Do I recognize this seasoned running talk from Ms Burkey46, this running had gotten hold of you 😝,

I like the trails moreso as I've got more confidence and the grippy shoes definitely help

β€’ in reply to

I think I've realised that the running, along with my healthy eating is kicking my fat arse into shape so I'm appreciating the benefits definitely..

I also like getting muddy 😁 looks like I've had an adventure ha!!

Looks great fun, but as I can trip up over nothing I'm better off on a flat, rootless surface .

Glad you got out there though 😊

β€’ in reply toJell6

Definitely dirty slippy fun Jell6 πŸ₯³ so was it this accident proneness that led to your career choice 🀫

What a good kid, giving Dad the needed nudge out the door. As hard as it is to get out somedays, it is amazing how good it feels afterwards. And your trails look so pretty πŸ’•

β€’ in reply toSaskAlliecat

The benefits of a teen-daughter SaskAlliecat, that nudge was a good-un, the trails are definitely endless I need to explore some more, as they're literally on my doorstep.....

Ahh lovely lmc, all with the friendly shove of a teenager. Who knew they could be so helpful? I wasn’t running when mine were teens - it might have been a nice escape from the 3 of them! Darn, missed that one! 😩🀣

So you had a lovely trail run. Aren’t they fantastic? Brilliant! πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘πŸ

God bless teenagers they're a breed apart ( I just hope one of them helps me with the shopping today, Mrs Wife's left a two page list🀨)

Sounds lovely and nice to see photos of your run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

β€’ in reply toBonniesRest

I really enjoyed it BonniesRest, it was a great outing, trails kinda make hill work fun for me rather than hilly roads πŸ™‚

Love this! You're the sort of person I'd like to run with. Well done on getting out because look what you achieved πŸ‘ πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ your Vo2 max is sensational.
