Yikes back to virtual school lessons for my two girls again, the schools a no-go zone covid has got to their year groups.
So once lessons had commenced, I'm surplus to requirements may as well go run π.
Weather check it's still shorts weather, double shirts though I think and the trusty running beanie ( raised eyebrows from teenagers) I am a fashion icon π.
Warm up, stretch light jog down the lane and let's go running.......
It's only early Autumn but that coldness in the air alters your breathing I find, and it takes that 1st klm to settle into rhythm.
Leaving the village behind me, which doesn't take long, it's pretty teeny weeny, I turn up into the lanes a hill/slope I would've never looked at 6months ago πͺ I like my hills earlier in a run, it's empowering knowing that I've got up it and gives me a boost.
2klm done. Kilometer 3 heads down hill and passes the copper roofed house, currently a beautiful green, definitely striking!! It's easy to slip out of that relaxed slow running and takes some effort to slow it down. A sudden breeze sees me running amongst falling leaves, totally autumn, brilliant π.
With my downhill klm gone, the lanes lead back to the main road, again quiet ( lockdown bonus) and kilometer 4 slips neatly into the 5th where I cross over the River Dee at Newbridge and climb slowly up hill. Kilometer 6..... undecided as to where I was running, footloose and fancyfree I decide to track around the local country park, ( up above me the railway viaduct HUGE) passing a party of walkers, we all manage to distance ourselves easily and then it's just me on my own once more. I stopped briefly to check on a walker who was kneeling besides another person, but she assured me she had it all under control ( the person in the floor had suffered a seizure, ambulance and on way π)
With my limited first aid skills not required on I went.
Kilometers 7 and 8 following the park path, then leading to trails, these follow the bank of the river, I'm liking trails more and more, such good running.
The trail then becomes either an obstacle course, not today for me, trail shoes for that route, I opted for ( as per strava, "the stairway to heaven" ) up and up and up and then yes I jeffed, steep understatement, I'll beat them next time πͺ.
Ahhhhh tarmac not a step in sight, a gentle 1.5k jog back to stretches and hot πΏ......... Roll on work π
Keep safe keep running everyone
