Whilst I’m having involuntary down time, help me shop....

A week of isolation left....

Time to go on-line shopping as it’s starting to get a bit cooler.

Upto now I’ve been running in any old tee-shirt and walking shorts, only started on C25k in May so cold weather hasn’t been an issue.

Guessing there’s better garments, but don’t really know what and I’m not allowed to go and browse so looking for ideas.

What do you seasoned runners use over the cooler months?

1 week and 37 minutes to go until I reach my 2 weeks isolation time - I’m not counting at all!

Thanks,

I wear leggings (I’m not brave enough to wear shorts) and if it gets really cold will add tights underneath. Only wear a T-shirt though.

We don’t wear anything particularly special, last winter an old track suit then peeled the jacket off after a couple of kilometres, I think real runners wear real running clothes

the only exception is the spiderman tee shirt that i bought Willow

Personally in the winter I wear leggings + a long sleeve base layer (something long, thin, breathable). I find if I keep wearing a t-shirt into winter, I'll really struggle to warm up at all.

Dri-fit or equivalent. Thin layers! 🙂. You want technical, breathable fabrics that wick sweat away from your body so you don’t get the chills. I have an inexpensive Clima Lite top which I wear a lot

Long sleeved run top in a technical fabric. inexpensive 👍

I’ve never had a waterproof jacket as I’m not running fells or mountains. I get away with a lightweight run jacket cheap as chips from aldi. I bought a second merino long sleeved top yesterday from there. I love them. For a dry day though!

A cap is a good buy

Long running pants or running trousers with zip pockets 👍 I have some lovely Ron hill ones which are winter weight and lovely and soft inside. Very reflective too, which need for wintry runs. We need to be seen! Some folks run in shorts all year round 🙂

I trust your shoes are stable in the wet 🙂.

Decathlon stuff is good

Happy shopping 😃

I wear a running T-Shirt, a light top, and I have 2 running jackets. One of my running jackets is light and wind proof (not water proof) and made by Karrimor - Sports Direct. The second running jacket is actually a cycling jacket from Mountain Warehouse. It is water proof and I wear it on the coldest days. After that I wear a hat, neck buff and a pair of running gloves which I picked up in LIDL, oh yeah and I wear shorts all through winter. Decathlon have great shorts.

Don't shop online. You will spend more than you need to and winter is still a bit away yet. You have loads of time. A trip to Decathlon or Sports Direct or both will sort you out. Spend your money on good running shoes and socks. Buy the rest at bargain prices.

I think it’s the running t-shirt or long sleeve top I need. My usual t-shirts are usually drenched with sweat, didn’t want to get the chills from that.

Already spent on proper running shoes from a proper shop. So much better with the right support, at the tender age of 51 I found out for the first time that I over-pronate. Need to change my walking boots soon, so will be asking similar questions regarding support.

Got running socks, but to be fair I can’t really tell much difference running in them to normal socks. Maybe not getting enough distance yet.

Running socks help against blisters at longer distances. I over pronate too and need support shoes for running. But only running. Hiking boots and everything else are normal and fine. Running T-Shirts are great, you'll get good ones at lower prices in Sports Direct, and Regatta will be selling off nice running T-Shirts now at sale prices. Also remember that when races start back up again you'll get free T-Shirts for entering the races.
