I can now tick off the 5k run of week 4 on the distance version of The Magic Plan ๐Ÿ˜Œ. It's the first straight 5k I have run for a while, as I have been running and completed the timed version of ju-ju's plan.

I have logged my 5k on my local (not)parkrun (38:41) too, which I also haven't done for a while. It will be interesting to see how my 5k pace fares over the coming weeks - hopefully it might improve a touch before I head to Parkrun for real? ๐Ÿค” However, the closer the autumn/winter gets I can't help but feel that the chance of Parkrun restarting is beginning to look less likely.

dijep 's lovely post and photos from her run earlier today inspired me to get my running bahookie into gear and get out for my run. I can't match her beautiful autumn colours, but I don't think the heathland heather I ran through this afternoon is too bad an alternative.

Happy running everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒท

Sounds like a great run and glad you got out there on a not so warm August day! Where has the summer gone? It's nice to take photos, but I never do because what with Strava and spotify running on my phone, I would spend ages fiddling with apps! Might try tomorrow!

Take care.

Also, the title reminded me of the associated song, which makes me cry!๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh I know ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ๐Ÿ’•. I'm a Cheshire Girl originally, but my Scottish in-laws have completely won me over and that song gets me every time.

Thank you - how's the injury/running going?

Still taking it steady thanks. Not too painful so trying a 5k tomorrow. It's just so annoying how quickly I've lost momentum. I'm still waiting for appointment with physio. I'm sure he'll just give me exercises to do but peace of mind. Trying to keep yoga consistent too. ๐Ÿค”

in reply to Allbarron

I've been trying to up my yoga too as I have been neglecting lately, and I can tell!!

Good look with the 5k and the physio appointment. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒท

in reply to Allbarron

Go steady and see how you feel bit you'll get back in the mix again! ๐Ÿ˜Š Be just and fear not.

Thanks GTFC. Just a bit frustrated with the lack of progress but I'm trying to be thankful I can still run. Every mile counts!! ๐Ÿ˜…

in reply to Allbarron

Definitely and we all go through these phases but think of it as pages or chapters in a book. There are new pages to write and new chapters for you to discover.

Wise words...always gratefulโ˜บ๏ธ

5k is 5k so well done on today's run! How did the pace feel for you? It's a good way to get your first one. 'As you go...you grow' so keep steady and for the longer ones go steadier still and in time you'll reap the benefits ๐Ÿ˜Š

in reply to

Thanks GTFC. I have done 5ks within my longer runs on ju-ju's 60 minute plan, but this is the first straight 5k I have run since July 1st and that was 40:58, so I'm moving in the right direction! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Cor Blimey! You really have come on a treat! Awesome ๐Ÿ”ฅ

I think your Heather is equal to my berries ๐Ÿ˜Š It reminds me of where I grew up in Surrey, loafs of Heather and pine trees - lovely.

Having actually run 5k today I also logged it on (not) parkrun, my second slowest time ha ha ๐Ÿ˜€

in reply to dijep

Ah, the Surrey Heathlands are only a stones throw away from me! I can see them from my favourite hills ๐Ÿ˜Š

I had always thought the south east of England was just commuter-belt-suburbia until I moved here 18 years ago. How wrong I was!!

dijepGraduate10 in reply to

Yes it's what most people tend to think! I went back a couple of years ago to look round old haunts and I'd forgotten how wonderful the wind sounds blowing through the pines.

Oh I'll l have to stop thinking about it, makes me nostalgic even though I haven't lived there for 40+ years ๐Ÿ˜Š

in reply to dijep

There is nothing quite like the smell of the pine trees and the sand on a hot day. It always reminds me of camping holidays!

There was a chat string on here recently about great Scottish words (donโ€™t remember if you joined in) but bahookie wasnโ€™t one mentioned. I need to add it to my โ€œmust useโ€ list with my English grandchildren. They know several of course but their favourite is oxter!

in reply to Sybilw

I love โ€œbahookieโ€! I learned it from my Scottish in-laws and always used it with my children when they were little as it always made them laugh. They are older now but it still gets used now they are teenagers, mainly in the phrase of getting your bahookie into gear!!

Or off the couch! Another favourite of our family is โ€œitโ€™s fair stottinโ€™ โ€œ to describe the rain.

in reply to Sybilw

Iโ€™ve just asked my husband to translate โ€œoxterโ€ (shall be using that with my teenagers ๐Ÿ˜‚) and โ€œitโ€™s fair stottinโ€™ โ€œ ๐Ÿ˜Š. I love โ€œmockitโ€, often used to describe our dog ๐Ÿถ!
