This is my first run since sunday . Now on sundays run I was soaked right through then today its roasting. What I have noticed is this time last year I wasn't coping with the heat at all when running. Where as now it feels a lot better .

Have a great day 🌞🌞🌞🌞

Good run for you today in the heat, quite a contrast from the rain on Sunday, surely it wasn't another Half πŸƒπŸΎ, Marathon😊

I ran my midweek run at 8.25 this morning to avoid the heat, even then it was getting warm, I only ran 6K, enjoy the sunshine this afternoon, after I take Holly out a walk I will be in the garden doing a bit of suntaning. 😊

No AlMorr definitely not a HM today . 6.5k was more than enough. Enjoy the rest of your day πŸŒžπŸŒžπŸ•

That is a really good sign of the progress you have made. Did it feel ok after Sunday?

Sunday I was fine but at night for some reason I didn't sleep very well. Monday morning I felt a bit achy which went away with a few dog walks . Yesterday a few more walks with the dog and today I felt fine πŸŒžπŸ•

in reply to Buddy34

Great, again that is another really positive sign. Keep on keeping on 😁

Did you realise GTFC that Buddy34, apart from running that magnificent Half Marathon on Sunday also set a new record for the number of replies and congratulations any person here on the running forums of Healthunlocked, between this B210K site and the marathon site she got almost 150 replies and congratulations, the previous record was around 120 that was when ButtercupKid and a man no longer on this site called Sallenson graduated from C25K.

in reply to AlMorr

Ooooh. I knew she was close. She deserves it for being 1. Who she is and 2. Encouraging others.

Number two on the most congratulations and replies was a lady who comes from North East Scotland named ButtercupKid, she is Autistic, has two boys and a husband who also have Autism, she struggled particularly through the first few weeks of C25K, in fact took 9 weeks to complete week 1, about 5 to complete week 2 and so on, when she graduated after being on the course for at least 4. months, maybe 5 she got around 120 replies and congratulations, any runner replying to a congratulation also counts in that number, so if a runner gets 50 congratulations and thanks all those 50 people then that will take the number to 100.

Totally agree. First person I read about when joining the forum and such an encourager to others. Buddy for president!

She could change her username to Scottish Princess, we already have a Irish Princess on the forum.

You should have seen me at the end of todays run, more like sweaty princess😝😜

Yes, I shall be out early doors tomorrow morning to beat the heat. It’s 22 already today and 24 forecast for tomorrow so I shall be out early early! Great running Buddy πŸ˜ŠπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

So glad you’re coping better this year, it was very warm this morning though even at 7.15am when I went out.

Lovely day all round🌞🌞🌞

Having moved to balmy tayside I struggled with my 18deg run this morning so glad to hear a year on and you are coping better with the heat. Happy running πŸ€—

That’s interesting about the weather. Is that just a sign of your progress - the running is easier so doesn’t really matter what sort of weather is thrown at you??

I'm not too sure . But I do remember complaining a lot about running in the heat last year and the few runs this year that have been warm just doesn't seem to bother me . I still come back soaked in sweat and a tomato coloured face 🀣🀣

Well done on a good run, you must be fitter now to cope with the heat better this year.

I’m not used to running in the heat yet.

You fit thing you! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ It definitely has a bearing on coping in the heat. You’ve put tons of work in recently, and it’s paying off! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Gosh it was warm yesterday wasn’t it? I ran my weekly 10k just after 7am and was begging for a cooling breeze as there’s zero shade where I run at the moment. But I did it and my splits were consistent, unlike last year when they’d tail off.

Happy running! πŸ˜€

Don't get me wrong I was sweating like mad and when I got home it started running down my face. 😊

Well done. It does show how far you have progressed. Running in the heat is tough πŸ’ͺ🏼

I can no longer run after about 7:30. It’s already too hot by then.

Fortunately my oldest son has developed bad habits lately, lying in bed till the afternoon and staying up until 5:30 when he bangs his bedroom door and clatters about before turning in. When his noise wakes me I know it’s time for breakfast, and then I can still get my run done.

Nice one! Make sure you keep hydrated though!

Hydration is the top of my list every day and even more on run days πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

The other thing I’ve found that helps recovery when stepping up to 10km is doing post-run stretches for longer- I’ve doubled the time devoted to this and it has certainly eased the initial aches!

Buddy34 profile image
Buddy34Graduate10 in reply to DiverIzzie

Yes your right stretching even more for longer runs does help 😊

Well done Buddy. You are an inspiration, and a reminder to me to take more care.

Visited my son yesterday for the first time since lockdown. We went for a long, hot walk on the Downs. Got up this morning, shoes on, off down the road, full sun, already 16 degrees. Fail.

Jeffed home feeling grumpy. ☹

Note to self: don't take running for granted!

It must have been nice to spend some time with your son and you know just as well as me no run is a fail. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Yes, it was lovely to see him, even if it was for supplies of homemade flapjacks on his part. I have two other sons I won't be seeing for a while yet - one of whom you could check up on for me. πŸ˜‰

And you're right too. Not a fail, just a particularly short, unscheduled and unpleasant practice run.
