It's been a few weeks since I posted (or took a proper look around the forum) about my plan to stay active despite the inevitable deluge of work that comes with the start of a new school year - this of course is because the inevitable deluge of work has happened.
However I'm very pleased to report that I have, so far, kept up with the plan to run 4x a week including some intervals and more hills and put in some stretching and core exercises.
The running is fine and I've mostly enjoyed the hills despite a fall one week and a cartoon worthy skating scare over a crab apple covered forest floor 😂 the next. The relaxation runs after work on Fridays (with views like the one above) are definitely helping to keep me chill about work frustrations.
The core exercises on the other hand are proving more difficult and definitely less exciting. If I had a core I think they might prove easier, but I'm so pathetic performing a plank that I I'm fairly sure that my core is missing or at least awol whenever I exercise 😂.
Still I guess practice makes perfect or slightly less pathetic in my case.
Have really noticed the autumn creeping in too, despite some lovely sunny weather, with blackberries, red tinged leaves, ploughed stubble fields and mud (🙄 my nemesis) featuring heavily in this week's runs.
Hope you're all enjoying autumn running too!

Well done for sticking with your plan Deb, despite the new year workload. Keep going with that core work, it will be making a difference I'm sure!
Oldfloss recently posted on the Strength and Flex forum that she will be sharing some ideas for a manageable exercise regime on there, which will be good.
Definitely autumnal now, and the nights will be drawing in.
Oh I'll definitely look out for those. I'm just trying out a few core exercises I picked up from Runners Weekly. They're meant to be for beginners but clearly not those as beginnery as me 😂🤣!
Glad you’re still enjoying your running Deb. I think the majority of us are welcoming the autumnal weather after all that heat we had to endure over the summer. 🥵🥵
Ah but I don't mind a bit of heat and in the summer I can run in the early mornings. In the autumn it tend to be old damp evenings once we get past September and it's downright dark running once the clocks change 🙄.
Well done Deb! 4x a week given your work load is a great achievement! Even more so when you add in the core work.
And doing hills and intervals! Doubly well done!
I have started doing yoga on a morning to try and make me more flexible. It is slowly helping (or at least I think it is) although my poor legs are constantly being worked on. Apparently running doesn't use a lot of muscles which is why we need to balance it out a bit.
