So, I’ve taken the plunge and entered a 10k race (Exmouth 10k). Having completed my C25K in July I am continuing to clock up the miles. A new 5k PB yesterday of 24:52 was such a milestone for me, coinciding with the lightest I’ve weighed for 20 years (now 11st having been 13 st when I started my C25K).
I’ve been working to 10k since July and have 5 runs at that distance (road and trail) since start of August averaging 6:40/km. The 10k I’ve entered is all road.
The closet I’ve come to a race is the Parkruns. What else should I expect?

I recently did my first race...a 7k road race, there were a lot of people...around 40k between walkers and runners. I found it hard running round that many people, I had never even done a parkrun. The noise of people was huge, I always run alone so it was a shock.
If you want to use the in-race refreshments, try and find out where they will be and get on the right side, I was in the middle and loads of people were crossing in front of me to get to the water and bananas.
Otherwise just enjoy yourself and don't get pulled along too fast at the start, unless you want to lol
