Afternoon lovely running friends, hope you are all well and getting out regularly.
Not had the best work news so I was eager to get out for a long run, maybe not the best thing to do 2 days before the Bamburgh 10k but needed doing,
I parked up in an area called Cowgate, not Newcastles best but it allowed me to start off the run through the Town Moor, the huge area of grassland to the north of the city.
From there it was pretty much downhill all the way to the river, passing St James Park and the Centre for Life, then down to the Tyne, crossing the first bridge upstream from the Tyne Bridge which gave fantastic views of the Tyne Bridge, Millennium Bridge, the Baltic and the Sage.
I dropped down to the riverside and headed upstream towards the Metro centre but passing the Dunston Staithes on the way.
I reached 10k in about 1 hour 7 mins and felt OK, crossed back over the river at Scotswood Bridge and headed back through the riverside park on the north side. 15k came up and I was starting to tire, the fact that this was a spur of the moment run with no prep beginning to tell.
My run ended down by the Quayside, by all the wonderful development's that have transformed the area.
Once again missed 2.30,i think I have run 2.35 about the last 4, hopefully the GNR will be the one.
But a lovely run that cleared my head and now looking forward to Bamburgh on Sunday.
Run happy, run safe. πππ
