Hi Lovely running peeps! I am struggling at the moment. I have had 2 migraines in the last few weeks. Oddly I dont get a headache but I do go stiff as a board all down my left side. Diagnosed as complicated migraine...trust me it couldnt be simple lol! I also struggle with the heat which makes me feel pretty sick. I have managed to run 22.8k this month but it has hardly been enjoyable. Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated! I had thought I may just have to 'power' walk in the summer as I was up and out real early today and still got overheated. Thanks for listening!! :)

Oh no CCM, that sounds nasty. I’m sorry, I have no tips to give, other than the obvious ‘stay hydrated’ mantra we all know and love.

Does your GP have any solutions you could try? Can you isolate any foods which might be triggering them? Maybe keep a food diary?

Stay well. ❤️

Thanks for your lovely concern cheeky! x:)Only GP solution was beta blockers which I didnt want to take. I do drink lots of water, have given up caffeine, booze, chocolate, cheese and many other things. I have decided I must be weird lol! Saves all the conflab:)

Well I hope you can get some migraine free runs in this summer CCM. Just take it easy and see how you get on. ❤️

I get awful headaches when not fully hydrated. Definitely look at hydration first. Also try to ensure you're not building tension in your neck and shoulders, this can cause crippling headaches.

Try one of those thin sports "cool" towels around your neck, it feels silly but they do help 👍🤞😁

Thanks Wimborne...It's not so much tough..I am used to it...it is hellava boring though!! and frustrating to go from nearly 12k to struggle to do 5k. All the support does help..so thank you everyone! Have a super sunny day!! :)

That sounds so tough! The diary is a good idea, to see if you can spot what's triggering your migraine. It's not necessarily food (There is a book cover with a lurid black and white spiral pattern on it, that I have to hide because looking at it triggers my migraine headache). You might find something online. Also I function better if I run first thing in the morning rather than later in the day, you might have a time of day that works better for you. Best of luck finding a solution 💐

Thank you for your good ideas! I do run first thing before it gets too warm..I dont cope with the heat too well although I now have a cool neck towel as suggested by go go jo jo to try. Migraines are strange things.. I have woken up on the floor without knowing how I got there and the stiff side is a given when one kicks in. I have found that resting (and sleeping rather a lot) are the only solution once one has started. I have never thought of visual triggers though so something to bear in mind. Have a lovely rest of the day and thanks to all my lovely running peeps for your help! :) x
