I was finding it really difficult to get out there (I don’t understand, the weather improves and I’m finding it harder to get motivated??) but after reading @molly1973 and @pianism’s posts it seemed I was the only one not winning the fight, so I followed their example and went out.
I mixed intervals, fartleks and hills and got probably my slowest time ever for 6km, but am happy with that following a night of insomnia and a week of eating too much junk. And you should have seen those hills. Who would have thought that I would deliberately run down ‘The Beast’ so I could run back up it again! I don’t recognise myself 😁🏃♀️💥

Hi BTP. Was it you who recently gave the advice to shorten ones stride on hills? That was really useful. I loath hills. They seem to use 3 times the energy of the flat. It worked so thank you. If it was you!!
Intervals, hill runs, tempo runs and the like are an essential part of a balanced running diet. I quite like intervals, I hate hills, I hate tempo runs, the good thing about all of these is they are short run day fare.
👏🏼🎉👏🏼 You cracked it! Well done. In fact, I do get it about better weather, at least in part. More sun and a bit of warmth and loss of that east wind, and I’m finding a lot of alternative possibilities for my time. Have gone back to putting on the running gear as I get up as an insurance policy that it really happens. 😄 Happy running in your current virtuous burst!
The slowest run can be so magical... my slowest 5k was amazing, must try to beat it one day! Great job... you’ll know when you’re fully addicted when you go for round 2 on the beast as well.
Glad my post was a help, Baddie. My motivation is a bit low at the moment and I’ve gained a couple of pounds ( you can’t outrun a bad diet and I know this, but still I do it), and it’s a lot of hard work. I can’t say I enjoyed yesterday’s run, but I’m glad I did it and being out in nature was nice. Let’s keep working on those gremlins!
Well done for getting out there and sounds like you did a hard work out!
I was looking forward to my run today but my little post work nap turned into a sleep and woke up confused at 8pm needing food... will have to wait for PR now
Fantastic! Well done for not only getting out there but doing a proper monster run. Where is this "beast" you mention?
I've already started putting the feelers out for a local running group for when I lose motivation. Hasn't happened yet but I know it will (because it happens with everything... just my nature I suppose). But I think I'm essentially and anti-social runner but a social after-after-runner.
