Thanks to Couchpotato2 for the recommendation to try the Nike Run Club podcast ‘Run with Manal’.
It’s been more difficult to run lately as my routines have been shaken about a bit with late night phone calls, daydreaming and being away at the weekends.
So when I bolted awake early this morning, with the sun streaming in my window, I got up and dressed and laced up the trainers and just went...
It was gorgeous. I think I’m a morning runner. Sunlight filtering through trees, birdsong, no one about, a coolness in the air. Manal was full of joie de vivre and a pleasure to listen to. The time trickled by and I kept a nice, easy pace for the 25 minutes. There were two slightly difficult minutes around the 19-20 minute mark, I think, and Manal cut in at that point, asking if it was feeling hard and to slow it down and ‘run smarter’ if so. I eased back, carried on running and honestly, it’s the most comfortable I have felt in a while. Armchair running, effortless effort. And I ran the 4K at a 6’27” pace, which isn’t much slower than usual.
Who knows what the magic formula was but I’ll just enjoy the fact it came, and look forward to the next one.
Have a wonderful weekend, peeps x
