Effortless effort...

Thanks to Couchpotato2 for the recommendation to try the Nike Run Club podcast ‘Run with Manal’.

It’s been more difficult to run lately as my routines have been shaken about a bit with late night phone calls, daydreaming and being away at the weekends.

So when I bolted awake early this morning, with the sun streaming in my window, I got up and dressed and laced up the trainers and just went...

It was gorgeous. I think I’m a morning runner. Sunlight filtering through trees, birdsong, no one about, a coolness in the air. Manal was full of joie de vivre and a pleasure to listen to. The time trickled by and I kept a nice, easy pace for the 25 minutes. There were two slightly difficult minutes around the 19-20 minute mark, I think, and Manal cut in at that point, asking if it was feeling hard and to slow it down and ‘run smarter’ if so. I eased back, carried on running and honestly, it’s the most comfortable I have felt in a while. Armchair running, effortless effort. And I ran the 4K at a 6’27” pace, which isn’t much slower than usual.

Who knows what the magic formula was but I’ll just enjoy the fact it came, and look forward to the next one.

Have a wonderful weekend, peeps x

So pleased you tried it, she's so lovely and positive. On my run today, I was about to walk a few steps when the voice went: keep going! so I obeyed. Sometimes those comments come at exactly the right time!

They have kept me going (that and the forum). And on long runs you have plenty of time to day dream :-)

Fabulous!.

This all sounds very.....dreamy and gauzy, with you just loping elegantly and effortlessly along.

I need to investigate this podcast 😊

Well, I’m not sure how elegant my running would look to the casual observer, but it felt dreamlike and effortless; which is the most important thing! It did help that I had the landscape completely to myself so there were no observers... bliss 😊

I’m struggling to get Manal, she seems to be a glitch on my app annoyingly. Going to keep trying though, the 45 min one I did last week was great for me.

Which one was that? Was it the thank you run... I like that one, it really helps me to ease back and go slow...

It was run with Shalane. No idea who she is but would appear she’s a prett good runner!

Lovely! You just need to bottle it now for re-use on your next run! 😁

If only I could! C25kers and B210kers up and down the country would be clamouring for it!

I’ve just upgraded my phone and unfortunately I can’t seem to login to the Nike run app. I might have to make a new account 😢

Nice running though, have a lovely weekend 😊
