I just wanted to let you know that I failed Ju-Ju's bridge to 10K miserably. Travelling for work and working long days is my excuse, but that is all it is - an excuse. It's a month since I did anything - except 2 x 5km walks one day after another. I am sure it is psychological. Having lost my direction on planning, I decided to start couch25K all over again - this time only doing one run instead of three. The target is to get back up to a 5km run in 3 weeks' time. Mornings are lighter now so no excuses. And week 1 run 1 was hardly breaking a sweat. Has anyone else suffered a complete drop in activity after achieving a goal?

Yes it’s been really hard since graduation. I sort of started a couple of plans but didn’t enjoy it so have now decided to just do 30’ runs for a few weeks and just keep enjoying it. Hope you get your running mojo back soon!
I did week 2 run this morning. Legs a bit sore but I figure if I do one run of the per week couch25K runs each 2 or 3 days, I will be back to week 9 in 3 weeks' time
Still working to goals, so can’t comment there, but well done you for the re-start Plan. Sounds a really good way to get back in the flow. And maybe to realise what you’ve already achieved. 👏🏼🚶🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️
Don’t beat yourself up Mercman. There’s no rush to reach 10k, or any goal really. This past few months has been horrendous for running, and coupled with working long hours, it’s no surprise you found it tough going. No biggie, your plan sounds good, and with the longer daylight hours and some lovely sunshine every so often, you’re sure to reach 5k again, and then 10k, sooner rather than later. 😀
We’re all here to cheer you on! Have fun out there. 😀👊👍💪
Hi, great support and encouragement thank you. I stay around Nuneaton/Coventry area when working and there are some wonderful places around there. I will probably find a local pub to drive to and do some country lane running. Next week the clocks go forward so I will definitely get some early evening time in the daylight to keep up the trend. I did week 2 run this morning and it feels good (again)
I’ve had almost 3 m off just through working hours being incredibly long and a work commute. Have got back on the treadmill from time to time but not consistently. Still, am starting week 3 again and hope that gets me back into a routine
Well done Lydia. We don't have a treadmill at home, and I prefer to get out in the fresh air anyway. Used the new track suit and running shirt my wife bought me back at end of January. Maybe that was what was stopping me. I did all my couch25K in a track suit that was twenty years old LOL
You are back! That’s not a f..l (the word we don’t use eek). It just means life got in the way a while so it will take a bit longer to hit your 10k goal.
You didn't fail. Life just got in the way for awhile. Running is supposed to be fun but when you have so much going on, it can be just another pressure of something else you have to do. You gave a great plan in place to get back at it, and you will.
I think the trick is not to beat yourself up. You've got there once and you'll do it again and learn lots of stuff about motivation and resilience along the way. I think we all have ups and downs and life often gets in the way. The main thing is you're back out there. 😊
A week 1 run and a week 2 run in one weekend. I will give it two to three weeks to get back up to week 9 and then perhaps some continuity in the 5k to 6k running range 2 or 3 times per week. I think I went at it a bit too fast. Nearly at the end of my March 2019 plan, so may as well make a June 2019 plan now. I achieved my desired blood sugar levels to be outside T2D, waist diameter (36" down from 42"), weight 73kg from 87kg, and cholestrol (7 down to 3.8 - the lowest since it was ever measured). Need to work on the blood pressure now, and whether I can contemplate dropping any more medications (in consultation with the GP of course).
