I felt a bit tired today and it would have been very easy to let the couch win, but I watched a bit of a triathlon and felt a short run was the least I could do...
The sun looked nice and beckoning but it’s blowing a hoolie! I actually got blown backwards, back into the house on my first attempt. I quickly adjusted any expectations I may have had and thought a) I was doing well just getting out there, b) let’s try to enjoy it, and c) if I want to stop at any point, I will.
It was a bit of an obstacle course. Several trees had blown down on the woodland path and though I took a couple of them like a hurdler, I stopped the watch a few times to pick my way carefully through branches and deep boggy mud. I also thought I’d stop the watch at the gates today, because they were so boggy I had to clamber on fences to avoid getting stuck.
Because of this stop-starting I didn’t get a true time for the 5k I ended up running, but even so, I was pleased that I got faster and faster and can sort of claim that I can run a 5k in under 30 minutes... in elapsed time it was nearer 37 with all the clambering around and over stuff! I wish I could use my Garmin to pause a Parkrun while I catch my breath! 😉
Wow that wind makes a difference! On one section I could feel myself being lifted and when I glanced at my watch I was doing an effortless 5’15”! On another section I was leaning at about 30 degrees and putting in maximum effort at 6’30”!
Oh! And the leggings stayed up 😆
