Looking forward to my run tomorrow

The run has become ‘my run’. It’s my thing. It’s become so personal to me. In life so many things depend on external conditions and these conditions somehow linking in together. Yet running is the one thing that’s truly uniquely mine. No one else can run like me, no one else can stop me. It’s just this wonderful me-time activity that I’ve come to love. Just me and my run.

It’s such a shift in thinking.

So yep looking forward to my run tomorrow :)

You are so right! It’s a lovely way of looking at it! It’s all yours ... you can set out to do one thing and completely change your mind and go further or not as far! You can go faster or slower but whichever way you choose it’s still enjoyable and still yours and the feeling lasts afterwards! Enjoy your run tomorrow 😊👍🏻

Run time is definitely me time. I don't listen to music or orders in my ears, just birdsong and the wind. It is a wonderful space that is available every other day and which restores my inner peace....helped by the flat white and triple chocolate brownie at the finish of course!😋🍩☕️

:) nice :)

Every other day, my treat is cocoa smoothie (sprout shoots (chia, azuki and radish, (if watercress sprouts grow then these too will be thrown into mix), kale, beetroot, celery, carrots, green apple, orange, two splashes of skim milk, 150 ml water and 40g of bean paste (boiled azuki bean blended into paste in blender and stored in 40g containers and kept in freezer) with two tablespoons of cocoa powder - plonked in blender for a minute...hey presto my choc thick shake :) )

Wow! I don't think the walkway cafe could manage all that! Is this your own blend developed over a period or a published recipe? No problem on the five a day. Amazing 😊

It’s mine. It started off simple - just juice. Yet as I started to sprout seeds, I started adding them. I didn’t enjoy the taste, so that’s when I started to mask taste with cocoa powder and then cane the bean paste for thickness (it has no flavour or it’s totally disguised in the shake) then came skim milk for protein (to slow down the release of the energy (sugar) burst from the carrots and beetroot) ....sounds really yucky yet it does end up tasting like a thick shake! I’m a big fan of Azuki/aduki bean!! It’s a great (zero fat) contribution to most things.

If you’re not really into all of the fibre (my blender liquifies everything in a minute: best purchase ever!!) then once blended pour it through a sieve and drink the sieved drink. Really nice! Honestly. Trying is believing. :)

(I’ve been a juice, blend person for many years. If I can drink my veg rather than chew I’m happy! I’m not someone who will enjoy eating/munching on broccoli yet stick it in a juice/smoothie and I’ll consume it! :) )

Lovely post. And oh yes, I feel the same! Running is now sacred to me. It makes me feel free and like a kid again. It’s mine and I take care of it. 😁

Yes the mental health aspect of running is often overlooked but is one of the main reasons most people run

Lad in our local sports shoe shop once said that many people see running as personal therapy

and talk to themselves while running

Cant say I talk to myself but to be out running leaves me alone with my thoughts and restores a smile after a hard day

I never noticed that - that the run became my run. But it certainly did. For some time though I've recognised that this is my achievement, just for me. For 24 years most of my efforts and achievements have been for and through my children, my family. I discovered running just as they were becoming independent. At times it really does still feel like a guilty pleasure because doing something just for me is something I almost forgot how to do. 🙂

Thank you for sharing this. It was beautifully expressed and with obvious deep love and affection for your children, family and yourself.

Thank you :)

Thank you for helping me think this clearly at the start of my day!

I should have said, when I first started C25K it was with two of my children, injury paused procedings, I restarted 6 weeks later and by then I was down to just one child with me. She absolutely kept me going until week 8 when she started to complain that she hated it

She was determined to make it through graduation but since then I have run alone. In a way, it was almost her gift to me - I've never thought of it like that before 🙂

:) lovely to read. Giving someone the gift of time/their space is the kindest gift and most selfless too. Your daughter seems sensitive to your needs.

:) thank you for sharing :)
