It’s chilly and quite dark outside this time of year, not to mention COLD! So it’s good for us runners to ensure we layer up, and that we can be seen well these darker mornings/evenings🏃🏽♀️🏃🏻.
So folks, this is Week 2 of our ‘Run for Fun’ February Quest.
What the Quest is;
The Quest takes one calendar month . You can at join any point during that time.
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are completing the programme, your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and Strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice. So if you want to join, all you have to do is put;
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in and then, I would like to. ..............
Every week of February I will put up a new post and we can have a good old natter together on how we are each doing. Let’s be awesome folks😃
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep should you wish to.
Wishing you a happy, healthy Run for Fun February x

Pleased to say that week 1 of the quest has gone well. I achieved one of my goals by completing my 1st official 10k. Have also modified my quest a little, will still aim to run 3 times a week but have decided to follow a Nike Running Club Half Marathon training plan. Week 1 was a gentle introduction - the long run was 8k.
Haven't managed to make it to the pool for a swim yet, next week is light on running so will make more of an effort to get swimming.
I’m behind this month. I’ve only done 15km all month but I’m sure I’ll catch up later in the year to hit my annual target. It was just too icy to go out at the beginning of the week, then I was away with work. I enjoyed Parkrun this morning though.
Quite pleased with my Quest so far... I ran a fast 5k for the Speed challenge last Tuesday, was supposed to go to the gym on Thursday but it didn't happen 😐... but I went for a fun 5k run today...
Not drinking alcohol this month. We haven't been able to go walking much because of the weather, but I hope next week will be better!
I found myself signing up for a local 10km which will happen In 3 weeks. 😱 It’s a hilly one. So I did a hilly 8km yesterday. The hills are not steep but they are unending. I went out early to the forest and I alarmed lots of birds. There was sunshine and hail and flooded paths and just me. It was fab. In other news, my core strength class teacher is a sadist. She had us doing sumo squats. Who knew my bum has so many individual aching parts?? So I had a hot stone massage today just because. Happy activities running bunnies
I'm getting slower... My super speedy over 60 running buddy is doing the Rock and Road 10km (chilling name don't you think?) so I'm hoping that she'll spur me on, rather than kick pebbles in my face. I must follow your progress on the speed challenge post. Good luck!
Very little done towards achieving Quest goals last week. My father died of metastatic prostate cancer on the Sunday evening and I'd've loved to get a run in in his honour... but we had relatives who had journeyed from overseas in the unfulfilled hope of seeing him alive, I had the utter craziness of SEN Tribunal deadline days, and, more significantly, I have a nasty chesty bug which would preclude a run at the best of times and this was not the best of times. Weight's been shooting down and up (a fish and chip wake will do that!), wasn't going to be swimming either... I've had a couple of yoga sessions, so not a total wash out.
