Hi everyone and HAPPY FRIDAY!!! As you can see from the title I have now started on week 3....i was eager to get going and tackle this white stuff head on...so when I'd dropped everyone off at school that's exactly what I did....
Let me tell you, it was freeeeeeeeeezing...absolutely freeeeezing...I know everywhere's freezing and I completely understand anyone saying they don't want to go out but honestly, I felt so good running on the ice and light covering if snow that we got here in Brighouse...those of you who know me will know that I have a dodgy knee as in I only have one knee cap so ice and snow have always terrified me but yesterday I was the ice queen...I only had 3.5kms to do for this run and I did them absolutely no problem...I was really chuffed when I'd finished...it wasn't until I was walking back to the car that I realised just how slippy it was, it was an award winning dancing on ice style walk back...I had to run part of it because it was also colder than I realised and I thought if I didn't hurry up I was going to die of hypothermia!!!! Anyway...my Friday message is
1. Please be careful on the ice
2. If you're thinking of staying on the sofa where it's warm, please don't...get yourself out there, it's exhilarating in the cold and you will feel so much better for it I promise
Have a lovely weekend everyone

Well done getting out today MC! 👏👏 It looks beautiful too. ❄️🏃♀️👍🥶
I had to have a day at home as we simply had too much snow. I walked my dog in the field and there’s no way I could have run as it was so deep. What’s more, all the parkruns round here have been cancelled too, so it’s 5k at the gym for me tomorrow. 😫😫
I’d much rather pop on my new trail shoes and get out on the snowy trails but I daren’t risk it. Roll on spring! 😀
Better to be safe than sorry cheekychipmunks ...I haven’t run on a dreadmill but if it were too snowy I suppose there’d be no option...spring is just around the corner x
Oh I do hope so MC. I can’t wait to go out in just leggings and a vest top again. I’m done with layers.
I survived the treadmill, although I was the colour of a 🍅 at the end. I don’t know how people run long distances on them. 5k is my upper limit I’ve decided. 🏃♀️
Walking briskly on the treadmill was part of my fitness programme in my previous life, B.R. (Before running) ...but I always seemed to get someone running about 100 mph next to me and they just seemed to run on and on and on....this always made me believe that running wasn’t anything I could ever do...how wrong was I? 5k is amazing x
I’m always relieved when there’s no-one next to me for that very reason MC! I’m sure they’d laugh at me. 😅One thing I’m not on the treadmill is speedy. I would actually melt if I ran any faster! 🥵🥵🥵🥵
Oh lorks, MUMMYCAV! (Or should I call you Elsa? 😂) You have true grit running in that (and was there any grit on the paths?!) It is lovely running in snow, I admit, but I am so fearful of slipping. Well done on getting out, but please be careful, oh lovely pal with one kneecap. 😘💪👍
No, there was no grit down...I was so proud of myself when I realised how slippy it was, I wouldn’t have dared even walk on it at one time!!
Yay Mummycav , perfect ice run! Did you star in Cool Runnings as a stunt double by any chance? That takes true determination to run that run in this weather. I ran about 2.5k today around Lyme Park in the snow, I couldn't go any further because I was terrified of slipping or something, so I think you've done fantastically. Well done, my hero
Totally agree, running in the cold is good. After about the first 1k it does get warmer, although I have to admit just recently the gloves have stayed for the whole run
It does, usually I take my jacket off after 1k, it’s only a thin, showerproof thing, but not this time, I kept it on for the whole run, my gloves ended up in my pocket though, not because my hands were warm, just because they were irritating me
It was very slippy, but my clouds saw to it that I didn’t fall...I love the cold, I find I have to manage my breathing more so somehow, it regulates quicker, I don’t know how that works, especially as I have asthma too so you’d think the cold air would make breathing harder? I love the cold air on my face x
Well done you! I thought about it... Hoping tomorrow will be sunny and that I’ll get myself into gear and go out for a run. On the plus side I did more hours work thus week because I couldn’t go for a run.
Yes, this running park is costing me a fortune in food and Lycra. I finally went out today and didn't 10km 😀. It felt awesome. It almost felt easy🏃🏼♀️
So glad you braved it Bev and with only one knee cap, that's super uber brave in my book 👍❤️😍
You're right when you say it's exhilarating in the ice cold because it is. I love running and walking in the rain and snow. Yeh it's not nice being wet, but the fresh crisp air livens up your body. Well done chick 👍 xxx
Haha...I wouldn’t have dared at one time, running has changed me, I’m so brave now!!!! The ducks and swans would’ve had a bit of a shock if I’d landed on top of them....a bit like chicken licken! 🐥 x
Well done Mummycav. It was too icy to run near home, but I just couldn’t face the treadmill. So I drove to the park which is warmer (because it’s lower down and more urban). The paths were mostly clear and I managed a reasonable 5k dodging the odd icy patch. It felt hard today - I think it was the cold air in my lungs and a half hearted warm up. But I did it and it was a lovely sunny, snowy view from the top of the hill. Hopefully I will be able to get back to my usual routes next week. Be careful out there 🏃♀️🥶🏃♀️
Exactly jayval70 , you did it...and you even sought out an alternative route to make sure you got your run in...hats off to you for that 🧢...I don’t think the ice will be around for long
Nicely done Bev, I did my first slush jog today too... 2kms - oh how the mighty have fallen... But you are so right - the cold is exhilarating, except when you step in an icy puddle - doh...
You are still mighty Hidden ....right up there with the gods, you are just having consequences for being the bionic, mojo hunting, km killing warrior, you’ll be right as rain before you know it, you should be enjoying the massages!! Stepping in an icy puddle gives me brain freeze!! X
Not brave enough to run on ice by choice - though I did end up doing about 3k along the verge of a road with black ice one morning - though not intentionally 😳🥶 xxx
