I am fed up of running in the dark. Yesterday afternoon brought a glimmer of sunshine. My secretary thought I had lost it when I said I wished I was on the railway track. I meant the disused one where I run.
I did leave the office early but by the time I got home it was dark and foggy, no run.
I chose jancanrun's Spotify ska and two tone play list for this morning's run I thought it might bring memories of sunshine to lighten my mood.
There was something so not right about running along a pitch black, muddy country lane to "Free Nelson Mandela" at 6.30am.
It was however very apt that I concluded my run with Dandy Livingstone telling me to stop my running around ( Rudy a message to you)
Weekend is just around the corner, hurray
My one weekly run in daylight can not wait.
Happy running to all.

The plus side of having to run in the morning is the lack of time for faffage.
I just get my gear on, walk the dogs with my husband as warm up. He takes them home and then comes to pick me up from where ever we have agreed. This also means I have to do a full run to be at the meeting point.
I empathise.... I am only able to run in the dark during the week due to a very busy work life, but I love the variety of getting to the weekend and going out in daylight in the woods where i run. Hang in there the days are getting longer now, and that first weekday morning run where you get the sunrise starting at the end is sheer joy
Yes I will hang on to the thought of watching a sunrise soon. I think I was just hacked off this morning as had to get up even earlier than normal. Thanks for reminding me that Dawn running can be an absolute not.
Yeah, I am fed up with running in the dark too. I still enjoy the run, but it’s not as relaxing as I have to be extra careful of my feet and seeing where I am going to avoid tripping, and then there is the accidental fartleks when I think I hear something behind me and get nervous! Sigh. Bring on spring and early mornings I say! x
Hi . Yep totally with you, regards to running in the dark. I just don't really like it!
I'm lucky and can do a bit flexible working at work, so can sometimes manage a small run in the morning. But evenings are just tooo dark. But it is starting to get lighter
Hi Runningroni - This is one of my most favourite playlists - I don’t know why but the overall tempo is just perfect for me. So I’m sorry freeing Nelson Mandela wasn’t quite right, but then stopping the running around seemed to work for you! Happy running in the daylight, I wish I could join you I’m on the IC at present, so running seems a long distant memory and it’s only been two weeks!!!
Well done for getting out there in the dark. I bought a jacket with a flashing light, tights and gloves with reflective stripes but I still can’t bring myself to go out in the cold and dark. Luckily I am retired, but I do feel for you all and have greatest respect.
Glad you managed to get out there Runningroni, even if it was still dark. Mind you I think Free Nelson Mandela is suitable for any occasion! Not long till lighter mornings - spring is on the way! 😀
I love the song it just felt at complete odds with the situation as I was thinking of South Africa and sunshine whilst it was dark and a bit miserable.
I understand - for me it brings back his 70th birthday concert at Wembley in 1988 and of course his release 2 years later. Plus it was produced by Elvis Costello, one of my favourite artists!
