I hate to admit it, but I have been unfaithful to my old best friend. I have made a new one; a better one; one I 'love' more. One I am very happy to be seen out with. One I am slowly falling in love with... her name? Helly, or Helly Hansen to give her her full name. My old 'besty', Rab, has been a faithful companion for many many years; maybe too many years, but she has seen better days [and still holds many wonderful memories and battle scars that I shall treasure to my dying days] and I shall discard her like a used tissue... I am not proud of myself, but there it is. I have said it publically. I am a scoundrel.
No doubt I shall be judged by some, criticised by others and ultimately chastised by many; but I don't care. She is wonderful, warm, soothing and all-embracing, and I love her.
Hahaha, fabulous Sally! I know how you feel. π π
I felt similar when I ditched my useless, but fiercely loyal, phone armband and replaced my tech with a beautiful shiny new Garmin! Phone is now consigned to a flip belt purely for music purposes, and βin the backgroundβ MMR (just in case!), but the armband is in a crumpled pile in the car. Canβt quite bring myself to throw it away ....... I will though (might not!!) π πββοΈ
My Rab has stuck closely to me for many years through storms and pestilence and I swear we will never be separated. Take care, your new flighty piece may turn out to be as fickle as you; and then where will you be?? ππ
I feel dreadfully guilty, but my Rab is ancient, full of holes [some may say ventilation, but in all honesty, they are holes] and is little more than a Geordie's overcoat - a string vest. We have so many experiences and adventures that I will always remember her. She will forever live in my heart, just not on it.
My new flighty-piece may be as fickle as a Tory MP, but time will tell if she is going to stay the course. So far - so good.
Soorrrryyyy. My Rab was wonderful, but I couldn't find a new one. I wanted to be faithful. Helly is lovely and I mustn't prejudge her, but she does have a lot to live up to.
Happy New Year, if it's not too late to say that now.
Nowt wrong with Berghaus. I use masses of their stuff, but hiding it away... really? The others will just have to accept that you are prepared to experiment sometimes... oh, matron!!
This may be more of a man thing, but I have found that Helly doesn't get smelly after several days of constant wearing either. Rab was more sensitive and a couple of Karrimor [once a great brand!] running tops tend to pong very quickly.
