Before writing this, I guess I should announce I have no affiliation to the people who make this gadget. As our local Wirral Way running route became muddier and muddier, muddy running shoes were becoming the norm in our hall. Standing outside with our hands under the cold tap and a scrubbing brush wasnโ€™t particularly pleasant, and ended up with me usually spattering myself in more mud. So we mainly just let the mud dry on, then tried to brush it off later...

Facebook obviously had me down as a runner somehow, and decided to plug an ad to me for the Boot Buddy (shown above) at half price. I was skeptical, but decided to order one as an experiment. It arrived just after Iโ€™d finished a long muddy run, and I was instantly impressed!

Itโ€™s got a mud scraper at one end, then a reservoir for water that you open before using the brush part, so the water flows out as you brush. (Apparently they were on Dragonโ€™s Den, but we never watch that.)

Anyway, our hall now contains shiny clean trainers, and I love my new Boot Buddy! It also uses far less water cleaning trainers this way, doesnโ€™t get your hands cold and wet, doesnโ€™t seem to splatter me with mud (I use it outside over an outside drain though), and gives a far better result than me with a tap and scrubbing brush.

Oh yes I use one of these. Ive had it about two years. Its magic!

I take spare shoes and an extra bottle of water (in case its REALLY muddy), in the car with me when heading out for the trail. After my run and cool down stretches i put something warm on, change my shoes, use the Boot Buddy. When I get home I can head for the shower guilt free! These are a great pressie too!

Thatโ€™s an even better idea Millsie-J. I was just thinking today that I should clean my trainers before driving home, to avoid having a muddy boot bag to clean out. (But yes, a spare bottle of water to refill it may be needed some days!) ๐Ÿ˜Šโค๏ธ

Thank you so much for this review, Iโ€™ve been thinking about getting one of these, but I was unsure if itโ€™d be any good for running trainers...

Yes we were given something similar for our walking boots. V handy.

I plan on trying it out on my walking boots too, Eileen. Though they tend to get muddier and be tougher material, so not sure if theyโ€™ll wear the plastic brush out! ๐Ÿ˜‚โค๏ธ

Thanks for this, they'd also cropped up on my Facebook feed and I wondered if they were worth the money! ... On my birthday 'hint' list now!

That was my initial thought too. They donโ€™t seem much to look at, but they surprisingly work very well. Worth the cost just for keeping my hands dry and warmer while cleaning my trainers!
