Did my 5k on the treadmill today, trying to fit my runs into my work schedule! Definitely not as good as out on the roads and was roasting after a while!!! Roll on Friday when I get to be outdoors again!!! Anyone got any tips to make treadmills less dull??
First treadmill run: Did my 5k on the... - Bridge to 10K
First treadmill run
Try intervals. Run with a bit in hand, then push (e.g.) the last 100m of each 500, or the last 200 of each K, working gently back to “bit in hand” pace after each push.
Otherwise, yep, it’s boring - but a decent playlist helps 😀
I count stuff... anything really, steps, breaths and then I try to do the maths! Sometimes I cover up the displays too!
I tried a hill ladder workout tonight avoiding the miserable weather outside. 5 min warm up at RPE 2-3, 30s run, 15s rest for an increasing incline. 1st rep 1%, 2nd rep 2% and so on up to 12% then step back down again each rep till you get back to 1%. Run the reps at RPE 6-8. Takes 27 mins in total. Just step to sides of treadmill for the 15s bit. I used an interval timer I have on my phone. Can feel it in my legs this morning!
Wow - I’m not surprised!! Quick question, what is RPE??
Hi Jen. Sorry it's Rate of Perceived Exertion. It's how hard you feel you are working on a scale of 1-10 where 5 you can exercise but still maintain a conversation. So for running a light jog. If you Google it there are plenty of definitions out there. Hope that helps!
yeh if so let me know aswell
