An interesting intervals run this morning.. my usual plan is 3 x 1 min 5 then 2 x 1 min 10 finishing with 3 x 1 min 5.

Today I decided to try and run more relaxed and at about 85-90% effort. The reward was splits ranging from 6min 25 to now a best split of 4 min 57 ..

What surprised me was how much comfortable the fast bits felt.. and the resulting splits giving equal to and better times than when I last ran them at 95-100% effort.

It could be down to just getting fitter etc . Good motivation to know I am progressing in my own way..

Will try the same approach on next week's intervals as maybe less is more ..

That sounds great Rob. The intervals are clearly working well for you. And 4.27 is brilliant!!!

Wow great times Rob. I like the sound of your interval plan just wondered what the recovery time is between each sprint? :) :

Thanks Lorijay . I use the same recovery time after each sprint I.e. 1min 5 or 1 min 10 ..

If I increase the sprint time. Initially I'll then increase the recovery time to match but then increase it if I feel I need it but try not to.

So that would be 1 min sprint 5 min recovery? Sorry if I sound a bit thick :) :)

No .. sorry it should be 1 min 5 sec or 1 min 10 sec
