Running is still a new thing for me, having only started C25k in May (I think), so forgive the novelty in going for a 5k ‘easy run’ this evening and considering it a let-up! Even my HR was bang on for my age at 170, whereas it has been up around 190 in the past. Just gobsmacked. Last Thursday was a different matter - after Tuesday’s long run - but I’ll happily do today’s effort any time 😳
Main things for me is breathing as rhythmically as possible as soon as possible (whether I feel I need to or not) and the skateboard/glute based form. Totally transformed!
Running buddy should be over her cold by Thursday so hoping to break the 10K then 😁👍

It’s great isn’t it! Good luck with that 10k - you’ll smash it! 😃🏃♀️💥❤️
It’s not that many weeks ago since my first 10k, and I’m avoiding upping the distance anymore until my legs are stronger. I now set off on my “long run” days thinking “just another 10k” though - it’s amazing how fast we get used to things that not so long ago seemed impossible! 😂😂❤️
Conversation prompted by Jimmers, it's about the feeling of your landing leg pushing the ground behind you when you're using your glutes. It's a bit like pushing a skateboard, from the thigh downwards, anyway. As I did a lot of skateboarding in the 70's/80's I could relate to that memory. Putting that together with keeping my hip-bones level, means I can feel my stabilising medial glutes working (I think - there is definitely a muscle doing some work in there, anyway!), which I'm told is just as important as the big bottom-clenching glutes. When I did ballet a a kid, clenching your butt could help turn your toes outwards - great for ballet but not so great for running.
If you can run 5k comfortably you'll have no problem with 10k - you’re a runner! You've done the training, and just like C25K it'll carry you through and you’ll smash it. Go Equi! 😀👍👏
Fantastic Equi!! I absolutely love this post!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 You are a runner on top form!! Such a huge admiration for you. Well done! Keep doing those nice little runs 😂! You’re an absolute star! 🤩❤️
