Hello all. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their running!

The days are getting a tad shorter, the leaves are beginning to change colour (such a beautiful month!), and for me, the weather is perfect for running............yeahhhhhhhh at last πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌ.

So folks, this is Week 1 of our β€˜Be awesome in October’ Quest.

The Quest will run through to the end of the month, with weekly Monday update posts throughout. Happy running everyone!

HWhat the Quest is;

The Quest takes one calendar month . You can at join any point during that time.

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are completing the programme, your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and Strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice. So if you want to join, all you have to do is put;

I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in and then, I would like to. ..............

Every week of October I will put up a new post and we can have a good old natter on how we are doing. It’s going to be awesome folksπŸ˜ƒ

At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep should you wish to.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and awesome month x

There are so many variations of yoga offered, It’s often just a case of finding the variation that suits. My son travels the world teaching yoga, meditation and other therapies, offering workshops, retreats, classes, one to ones etc. He has consequently gathered new ideas from across his wide travels. There is an offering to suit most folk.

Hello Millsie, lovely autumn picture.

In October I want to complete juju’s plan and run 10k for the first time.

I will also include a parkrun each Saturday. I must be looking better at the end of the 5k runs now as at this week’s parkrun the director shouted that I had much more in the tank as if I was taking it easy! I got a PB all the same.

Happy running everyone πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

I have some predetermined targets for October:

1) 20km walked, run, swum, and/or cycled to get the second half of my Breastfeeding Network wooden medal (they do some particularly fine work on breastfeeding and medication, debunking some awful professional ignorance with the evidence base)

2) An 8k, a 9k and a 10k run to fill up the rest of my cakestand medal with cupcake charms (from which you'll gather that I did achieve the cakestand and my 5 and 7k runs in September)

Of course if I achieve 2) I automatically achieve 1)

And then back to the swimming which didn't happen at all in September... I've less than 16k left to get to Derwent Mouth on my virtual river swim and yesterday we visited the real place for the first time to boost my appetite.

And the same 'yoga more often than not' goal as last month (which turned out more not than yoga but not no yoga at all)

Off to SEND Tribunal again but with luck the Derby resignalling will all be complete on time... this morning's 'school' run was 3 hours in itself... not only will I not need to spend so much time in traffic and on the M1, but dropping off early at the rail station facilitates an early run or swim before tackling grim Tribunal admin. Looking forward to it.

Hi Millsie, happy October!πŸπŸ‚Your gorgeous picture has made me ready to be Awesome this month.😊

Please may I join the Quest,

I want to carry on running twice a week with nice long walks on the rest days.

I am going to take on running a new hilly route, which is quite long, so I can gradually improve my stamina, I will need to walk bits, which is fine, but it will give me something to work on...

I am doing the speed challenge too, as I'm keen to keep practising my new running form ( glutes engaged)...

I will do the pidgeon stretch after my runs.

Looking forward to being Awesome with you all! Good luck everyone😊xx

My aims are:

1. Help get Dexy to the far side of the Bridge.

2. Keep up a decent mileage including a mix of longer and shorter runs, now that Saturday hockey will be getting in the way of my hockey.

3. Watch :-) the Great South Sun - and perhaps spot LittleNell83!

Great goals Upthe...

Ps I shall be on the side-line watching the home game in March..... come on you Brewers!!!!!

UpTheStanley profile image
UpTheStanleyGraduate10β€’ in reply toMillsie-J

Great if incoherent - Saturday hockey getting in the way of hockey ???? I meant getting in the way of Parkrun of course :-(

I am somewhat bemused by Stanley and Brewers respective positions in the League 1 table - only one defeat for us, the first day of the season (and the only game I've seen ;-( ), so nine unbeaten ….. yee haaa!

Hello there! After six months of running I’ve finally achieved my main post-graduate C25K goal of running a sub 30 minute Parkrun and it’s time for me to start progressing towards a 10k sometime in 2019, so...

I would like to join the Quest by:

- running 3 times a week, rain or shine, including Parkrun, with one run being 5k+

- successfully doing 3 x 2 minute Planks every rest day 😱

- doing at least 1 gym and 1 yoga session each week

I hope this pushes me enough, but I’ve a feeling the Planks will be enough challenge for one month!

Thank you Millsie for giving me a new focus, in bite sized chunks!

Off for my yoga session now! Have fun everyone πŸ€“πŸ˜ŽπŸ€©

Great idea! My goals for October are:

- run three times a week

- run a total of 50km in a month.

Both of those will be a slight push but not unachievable!

Count me in please! J I want to slowly increase my distance and also run three times a weekπŸ€—πŸ€—πŸƒβ€β™€οΈX

Happy October! My Quest is to:

- Run 3x a week - ideally 4k, 5k and a Long run, but...

- Taper the training and finish the Great South Run on the 21st (Runner 20203 if anyone wants to watch a virtual dot go around the course in the app)

- Do kick-sets during at least one swim of the normal 3 sessions a week :)

Count me in.

Have had two weeks rest/ poorly/ finding excuses/ heavy workload.

This will get me back out.Started today with Laura's Stepping Stones stamina run.Well...most of it!

So I want to run 3xa week again.

Promise myself NOT to do my third 10k until I've also done my dratted calf raises 3xa week too.

Do some core/HITs at home on non run days.

There .I feel better already.

This boost is just what I need.C'mon everybody!

Sorry Millsie, it doesn't look like I'm going to be awesome in October after all. My arm is not healing very well after my fall last week and I've just been for my 3rd visit to MIU. A bit worrying.

Oh no...just read about your fall Dexy. Sounds like a nasty deep cut on your arm😯

Hope it starts to heal soon...in the meantime...you ran 9k! You will be back, you could do some leg strengthening exercises if your up to it😚
