Hello all. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their running!
The days are getting a tad shorter, the leaves are beginning to change colour (such a beautiful month!), and for me, the weather is perfect for running............yeahhhhhhhh at last ππΌββοΈππ»πππΌ.
So folks, this is Week 1 of our βBe awesome in Octoberβ Quest.
The Quest will run through to the end of the month, with weekly Monday update posts throughout. Happy running everyone!
HWhat the Quest is;
The Quest takes one calendar month . You can at join any point during that time.
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are completing the programme, your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and Strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice. So if you want to join, all you have to do is put;
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in and then, I would like to. ..............
Every week of October I will put up a new post and we can have a good old natter on how we are doing. Itβs going to be awesome folksπ
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep should you wish to.
Wishing you a happy, healthy and awesome month x

There are so many variations of yoga offered, Itβs often just a case of finding the variation that suits. My son travels the world teaching yoga, meditation and other therapies, offering workshops, retreats, classes, one to ones etc. He has consequently gathered new ideas from across his wide travels. There is an offering to suit most folk.
Wow that is such a cool job! I just go to whats on at my gym, and i have also started Body Balance which is a mix. My whole body feels so much better afterwards. Namaste
In October I want to complete jujuβs plan and run 10k for the first time.
I will also include a parkrun each Saturday. I must be looking better at the end of the 5k runs now as at this weekβs parkrun the director shouted that I had much more in the tank as if I was taking it easy! I got a PB all the same.
1) 20km walked, run, swum, and/or cycled to get the second half of my Breastfeeding Network wooden medal (they do some particularly fine work on breastfeeding and medication, debunking some awful professional ignorance with the evidence base)
2) An 8k, a 9k and a 10k run to fill up the rest of my cakestand medal with cupcake charms (from which you'll gather that I did achieve the cakestand and my 5 and 7k runs in September)
Of course if I achieve 2) I automatically achieve 1)
And then back to the swimming which didn't happen at all in September... I've less than 16k left to get to Derwent Mouth on my virtual river swim and yesterday we visited the real place for the first time to boost my appetite.
And the same 'yoga more often than not' goal as last month (which turned out more not than yoga but not no yoga at all)
Off to SEND Tribunal again but with luck the Derby resignalling will all be complete on time... this morning's 'school' run was 3 hours in itself... not only will I not need to spend so much time in traffic and on the M1, but dropping off early at the rail station facilitates an early run or swim before tackling grim Tribunal admin. Looking forward to it.
Hi Millsie, happy October!ππYour gorgeous picture has made me ready to be Awesome this month.π
Please may I join the Quest,
I want to carry on running twice a week with nice long walks on the rest days.
I am going to take on running a new hilly route, which is quite long, so I can gradually improve my stamina, I will need to walk bits, which is fine, but it will give me something to work on...
I am doing the speed challenge too, as I'm keen to keep practising my new running form ( glutes engaged)...
I will do the pidgeon stretch after my runs.
Looking forward to being Awesome with you all! Good luck everyoneπxx
So this month is back to my core goal of running 3 times a week. With the Sunday run nudging back up to 10k. In addition Iβve signed up for βCore and Restoreβ 6 week programme! Basically a Pilates class once a week.
Great if incoherent - Saturday hockey getting in the way of hockey ???? I meant getting in the way of Parkrun of course
I am somewhat bemused by Stanley and Brewers respective positions in the League 1 table - only one defeat for us, the first day of the season (and the only game I've seen ;-( ), so nine unbeaten β¦.. yee haaa!
Hello there! After six months of running Iβve finally achieved my main post-graduate C25K goal of running a sub 30 minute Parkrun and itβs time for me to start progressing towards a 10k sometime in 2019, so...
I would like to join the Quest by:
- running 3 times a week, rain or shine, including Parkrun, with one run being 5k+
- successfully doing 3 x 2 minute Planks every rest day π±
- doing at least 1 gym and 1 yoga session each week
I hope this pushes me enough, but Iβve a feeling the Planks will be enough challenge for one month!
Thank you Millsie for giving me a new focus, in bite sized chunks!
Sorry Millsie, it doesn't look like I'm going to be awesome in October after all. My arm is not healing very well after my fall last week and I've just been for my 3rd visit to MIU. A bit worrying.
