Argos have one of their regular sales on. They have an excellent LED illuminated hi-vis running vest, ideal for winter, at £12.99 from £19.99.

Very lightweight and “minimal” with adjustable side straps. Cheaper than gym membership or a treadmill...

Cheers Jay, looks like a good investment. 🙂 I might be able to use it with my motorbike gear too, just to get even more use out of it?! 👍 Time will tell anyway. 🙂🤞

It’s like having a personal shopper! 🤣 - with all my kids, work & now running.... I don’t get a lot of time, but I check out all your recommendations!!

Brilliant stuff mate - I’ll be ordering one for delivery from the pool tomorrow ☀️ 👍 🏝

I see you’re intending running right through winter then 🙂 You’re gonna need a headtorch as well if you’ve not already got one 🏃‍♂️

Nope..what should I be looking for in a running head torch? 📝

If you’re street running you won’t need anything as powerful as say for camping or trail running at night. Lumens! Is what you’re looking at. I have the cheapo - but fits like a glove - LED Lenser Neon. It stays put brilliantly, has a rear red lighting which will flash, and a front light which will also flash I have got it over any number of headbands, hats and hoods

However, in certain dark streets it’s not brilliant at ground level It’s ok for me as I don’t tend to run trails on my own in the dark 😁. If I did I would look for more lumens. Silva and Alpkit are good sites to check out. Petzl is another good make Apparently. Looks very much like mine

😁that was going to be my next question - lighting to be able to run in pitch black (no streetlights where I live!)

You would need to check out Silva and Alpkit web sites for details. One of them has a really good explanation as to what you’ll need, with photos. To give you the best idea what to get. Shedding some light on the matter 😁. My led Lenser wouldn’t be powerful enough I don’t think. It’s a running light , and does it all,but I think a light with a bigger visibility splay would be needed for you Mine is very comfortable and small.

Yes, some seem to cast a strong but narrow beam, but I’d need something that cast a wide puddle of light. Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll look those up 😁👍

The More lumens the higher the cost

If you are near a proper running shop I know that Silva do sessions where you can try before you buy They go out with groups of runners after dark, from the shop and back

Oooo Jay, you and your tempting bargains! 😃❤️ Like the Garmin, I’m probably going to regret passing on this one later, but for now I think I’ll only be running on pavements with street lights when it’s dark...

By having far too much time on my hands and planning for future runs. “How am I going to keep this going through winter? It will cost HOW MUCH to join a gym? What are the alternatives?”

I keep running through winter. No change 🏃‍♀️ save for clothing 🙂

I run roads at night but even on some main roads it’s dark in places You can carry a small torch. They come with a handy wrist strap and can be held in your hand
