How are you all doing? .... I’ve just booked our holiday so I’m über excitable!!! I can’t wait... and it looks like where I’m going will be some good running with woods etc...
You are so right about rewards and being able to celebrate our successes.Compared to others we seem to be reluctant 🤔 or are not very comfortable with that.🤔
Success breeds success.
Hope your holiday is sorted. You give so much.💥🏃♀️🐆💥
What a great post but I think I may have been overdoing the treats, perhaps the reason I've lost no weight since starting running (that wasn't an objective but a couple of puns wouldn't have gone amiss). I've also finally invested in some shoes and boy what a difference they make. The watch was all Jays fault (well that's what I'm telling myself).
Thanks for doing the 10k plan and posting, it's been a massive help in making running a habit, where I think if I'd had nothing to focus on and structure (of sorts), I may have drifted back after the 5k. Happy holiday running Ju Ju
My treat was a lovely shiny virtual racing medal waiting for me when I got back from holiday! I did my 10k last week ( a week early) while we were away as it made it even more special. Submitted the results at the weekend and didn't expect to receive anything until Sept when the challenge closed. Lovely surprise when we got home yesterday and the medal was already here (along with a parkrun wristband - next challenge; and my London Landmarks Half Marathon Mind charity pack and tshirt - my next, next challenge!). Exciting times! Thanks again for the brilliant plan and continued support x
I didn't join at the start to scared in case I couldn't get to the 10K
I've been running for 9 years started out just waning to run round my local park it's about a mile and a bit.
I did that and then carried on until I reached 5K and have been doing that ever since 4times a week for 9 years.
One of those is now a parkrun.
It wasn't until I injured my knee in October I thought I was finished but I stopped running for a while to heal and then gradually started running and walking a bit volunteering at parkrun.
Then I thought do you know what I'm going to try that couch 25K
And I did then went bonkers and decided to carry on with your plan.
Thank you so much Ju ju.
By the way love the little videos
Forgot to say I'm now 63 and so happy that I gave been able to carry on.
Unfortunately after a few days away at Kendal Calling I’ve since had a lousy cold and I haven’t run for over a week and a half so I’m well behind. I’m planning on resting over the weekend and going back out on Tuesday (it’s my sons birthday on Monday), that will make it two weeks out, the longest I’ve gone without running since March, I just hope it hasn’t set me back!
I’m so sorry and I do hope you feel better soon. Just take it steady and get back in gradually and it won’t take long I’m sure, you sound very determined.
Loved this week's top tip!!!! You're my kind of girl. 😁
P.S. These were my treat! You might not see the orange "10" on them, but I thought it so apt. Got them in time for my first 10K. Nailed the distance again after my surgery, but have stepped it down again to rest up before the HM plan. Thanks for all of your amazing support throughout - you're a 🌟
Happy Holidays Juju and thanks for the videos along the way. I won't make it this time but hope to re-join again with the next cohort and still really looking forward to the challenge. Lead us onwards!
Just saying - HI Panther, I've just been gone 4 months and don't recognise half the names of the posters. You are super good and running like the feline that you are I assume?
Hi Juju - love being advised to get more treats! 😃 Do my daily chocolate bar and 5 pairs of running shoes on order count... (Some will be going back once I’ve tried them on - honest! 😆)
Hope you have a great holiday - you deserve it. 👍❤️
I’ll be doing W3 this week, then may have a week off too, as we’ll hopefully be out for day trips climbing all week. Gait analysis has me a bit confused what to do with my feet at the moment, so I may just dance this week’s 7k! 😂😂😂
Hi ju-ju hope you have a great holiday! I think I'll probably need to roll onto the next plan as I can't see me finding the time to do a non-stop 10k. So much running in my life and I'm loving it!
Next week will see me training on the track and (hopefully) my first junior parkrun with my son and nephews 😁
Hi ju-ju- ....I’m still plodding along but I’m afraid I’m behind!! I’ve done the first run of week 6 & due to birthday celebrations & being on my jollies I will be doing run no 2 in the morning but I am getting there, not breaking any records but having a good time as a tourist runner!! So glad you’ve sorted a holiday out, you deserve one, you work so hard & give so much of your time to us lot!! You’re one of those people who will be inspiring folk even when you’re laid vertical catching some rays!! Happy hols xx
Thankyou so much, and well done, you are doing great. Not far to go now.... do it in your own time and you will nail it...
Have a great holiday Ju-ju. I look forward to seeing tourist holiday posts. I'll have done an 8km by the time the next plan is starting. So please sign me up to move onto a 10km. I have a 10km race planned for beginning of October so I have time to work towards it slowly
Yay and Thankyou... the next round starts on the 17th of August and I’m about to put up a call out for sign ups . October is so doable, we will get you there...😎
Thank you ju-ju - I'm a week behind (did my first 9k last week - boy was it tough!). Your tips have been an inspiration and I'm looking forward to graduating next week! Have signed myself up for the GSR in October so 10 miles is the next goal!
Your holiday sounds great - hope you enjoy when the time comes
still running - not sure about the long runs at the moment, did 4, 5, and then stopped 7.3 last week for my long run due to a time constraint so I haven't quite moved on yet! done another 4 and 5 this week and hoping to get in that elusive 9K (need to set aside so much time for these longer runs!) ... also, I started swimming to get my whole bod working! So behind but still hoping this week will be my week 6.
Sounds like you are doing just fine to me, swimming is a great way to get that body working without pressure on the joints. Keep at it in your own time and you will get there 😎
After your hidden crown , As an example, that may make a good fun post to bridge and marathon by an administrator.🤔Perhaps too busy.🤔 Perhaps too distracting and inappropriate for C25k when focused and building and strengthening slowly.
Question , What is your best improvement / achievement as recorded in any of your routes locally or otherwise.Perhaps you have not even checked or are aware of them.🤔
Don’t be modest, success breeds success, share with the forum what you think your single best achievement/improvement has been on your journey so far.It does not have to have been an organised event.Just one of your routes or improvement over time.
Great idea for a post, and it’s so funny I hadn’t ever spotted that on Strava!!! I will do something on that vein, thanks for your suggestion.... or even better, you could do a post asking folk just that?
Getting there, slowly but surely. In the middle of 2 weeks off work and hoped to get stuck into core and strength work, but apparently I had more pressing plans to do some diy, who knew... anyway, got out for wk7 r1 this morning. Reasonable progress in the cooler weather making 4K in 29:06. Hoping to graduate 2 weeks today so I can do The Big One on a Sunday morning.
Yay, finally got there! Graduation run this morning. 10k in 1:15:25. Happy with that as a first attempt at that distance. Want to look at getting a bit faster now whilst working towards the doncaster 10k in November.
