I hate when my posts get eaten: I never want to write them again, but here goes.

I'm currently Working through a different C25K, but ran this to show support for some fellow Beyonders 🙂

I joined my fellow canicrossers at a local beach for a run last night followed by pizza at a beachfront café. We’d already agreed that if it was too hot we’d just do a social walk instead. As it was, we didn’t need to worry, as you tell from the pics!

Merlin was very excited to meet up with a lot of other doggies, but not too happy when we let them run off without us, while we did our 5 minute warm up walk.

I’ve tried running on sand before, and my knees have not liked it, so I was really planning on taking things easy. I was wearing my trail shoes - as I’ve been told this helps - and the sand was wet and soft beneath us, which I was hoping would also help. I had a bit of a twinge on the second interval, but that was the only one I had, so I think I’ll try a few more interval sessions over the summer and see if I can build on that.

I’m so proud of Merlin, he ran past other dogs (including the main Canicross group as they stopped for a break) without wanting to stop and play, which is a difficult ask as he’s only young. The only thing that did spook him, was the board with the boots on it, which did look a bit creepy in the fog!

Collage do-hickey won’t let me put the pics in the correct order 🧐

Sounds fun! Glad you had a good run, soft sand can be hard work though! Great photos - We have a very misty day here today.

It didn’t seem like it, maybe it’s just because I’ve got so used to slogging through mud. 🤣

Hope the mist clears for you, it is gorgeous her right now.

Glad the run went so well and that the knee was good. Merlin looks as if he enjoyed the run too, and what a well behaved dog.

Lovely post too, it was worth rewriting. 😀

He enjoyed it SO much 🙂 he’s going to be an excellent Canicross partner.

I think the first version was better. I think next time I’ll write one in Notes and then copy and paste. 🤞

I had that happen one time where I'd written an interesting post, lost it, and the second time of writing I'd just lost the flow. and was so frustrated that now if I'm on my iPad I write my post in Notes and then copy and paste it into the forum. If I'm on the computer I write it in Word before copying and pasting.

Aw good dog 🐕. What a pal to have You’ll have lots of running adventures 😃

Running in sand is just different. Thankfully it’s not an everyday occurrence 😁

I do hope so!

Running in sand is hard, but I would like to be able to handle more than a couple of minutes at a time. 👍

The sand has different parts to it though Wet foreshore, drier harder bits, lumpy ridged bits. The soft damp stuff which you have to wade through is worst. I suppose it’d expends on the time of day 🙂. I hope to be running on Jersey’s beaches shortly

Ridged bits always seem to be the worst to me, even if only walking.

I've only just found this! Lovely photos, thank you! Merlin is gorgeous :) Well done for the run, especially on sand which can be so difficult. Running on the packed wet sand is a little easier though, and good call to wear your trail shoes. Excellent that your knee wasn't too bad - here's to perhaps more intervals? :)

Thanks!

Someone in here advised me to wear trail shoes when I was asking for tips last year.

Yes, I think more intervals are in order. Good job I live near the coast.
