Hi All .Hope someone do not mind answering a question for me as I do not want to joining a forum just to ask one question only.
I see England won gold at the commonwealth netball final which was terrific. We were awarded a penalty at the last second and even though I have watched it about 10 times I still cannot work out why a penalty was given? I have looked rules but not sure what I am looking at. This is only my curiosity getting the better of me and no other reason. Thanks for any info

I thought I heard a netball lady discussing it after say the Australian next to the girl who was shooting should have been further away from her. So it sounded like an obstruction thing. I remember because I thought she said 5 metres and thought I must have misheard, so who knows if that is right.
When the England player had possession of the ball and was about to take a shot, the Australian defender isn’t far enough away from her whilst she was trying to defend (waving her arms), she needs to be 3feet away.
Hi All. Thanks for all you input. I did try on facebook to find the answer but as expected I had to join the group 1st so I did not bother.
So it was obstruction, 3 feet sound more like 5 metres as when I looked at the replay again there were 2 Australian players near the English player. The line ref only pointed to the Australian player next to our player and our did look like she was obstructed.
