Claire.. relax.. breathe and start being kind to yourself. Just head out.. and run, gently and slowly... don't think distance or pace, and do not give it your all... just run until you feel like stopping:)

"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think".

Just hang in there:)

Hi Claire, well it looks to me like you did a very good run! It all helps build those running legs. ... BUT... how about make β€œenjoy” the only aim in running just now? Plug into your favourite music/ podcast/ audio book - or whatever makes you enjoy it most- and relax into each run. Please be kind to yourself! πŸ˜„

in reply to Elfe5

Ah bless you!!!i am finding things so hard at the moment so i think i always hope to achieve while running as it seems to be...or was...the only thing i was actually achieving anything!!!

Hmm, I understand that, but during a hard part of life making your running another hard thing seems bonkers. Maybe let your running be a lovely oasis that you can relax and enjoy for now. πŸ˜„

You're being way too hard on yourself! I believe you have shaved 45 seconds off your last time!?! Whoohoo!!!! That is huge! Today was a stressful day which probably made today's run feel harder. Listen to OF and be kind to yourself and all the good you are doing 😊. The speed will come eventually if this is what you want, but you've been through a lot in the last while, so just run for fun for now. Every run cannot be faster. When it feels right build in shorter interval runs that will help to build speed but, I feel, right now it's more about just taking care of yourself.

Ah thankyou...thats good advice 😊 things are way too stressful lately & its hard to keep a level head sometimes x

Very understandable. Don't add to your stress by trying to push yourself too hard on the running front. Get your personal life figured out and as Elfe5 said, use running as a time to help with your relaxation and stress relief.

in reply to SaskAlliecat

I need to work on that x

It looks like another great run to me, Claire! So, no regrets and well done for being courageous and getting out there. You can run as fast as you want but the arse-shaped route will still look the same ;-) As Oldfloss and Elfe5 said, relax and don't set yourself any other targets but to enjoy yourself and unwind the tension when you've had a hard day.

in reply to Anthie

You are all spot on...i need to find some better coping methods i think 😊

Not necessarily, but just be aware that very often strain leads to injury because, I guess, you're so absorbed in your problems, that you're less paying attention to your body. So carry on running especially to release the tension but without putting yourself under pressure (we all agree that running is a safe addiction ;-).

Yes...good point 😊

You're bonkers. You had a rubbish day but you still went running, you still did 5k (!) and you improved on your last run time. All in all that sounds like a massive achievement to me!!

in reply to Nictwit

Ah bless you 😊 thankyou 😊

Still looks like a perfectly good run to me! You are too harsh on yourself.

Why so hard on yourself! Take a step back and look what you have achieved. Better yet, have a conversation with yourself from six months ago and brag a bit about all you can do now compared to then. Sorry you are so stressed out, well done for getting out there, hopefully it helped

in reply to VictoriaRuns

Thankyou...it did help a little but it was short lived 😐

Can't add much to the above. Great time for a 5K on a good day. Very good on a bad day.

Ah thanks 😊

Looks like a great run at a good pace as far as I can see! It may not have been the exhilarating experience you might have hoped for but you still got out there and did a great favour to your health and your running legs.

And it's a splendid arse :P

I guess...i think life is clouding my judgement a bit at the moment!!!

We all have good days and bad days. This looks like a bad day that came good by going for a run. Any run is better than no run in my books. 😊
