First 3 weeks of this program simply consist of running 30 minutes, 3x/week. I think this is known as "consolidation." First 5 runs of the plan, my back still ached with every step and I felt as though my throat and lungs were being ripped out my nostrils by a rusty claw.
But, lo and behold, my last 2 runs haven't been agonising. This is not to suggest that they were easy, but the were remarkably un-wretched, which seems like massive progress for me. My run today, I kicked the pace up a bit and felt as though I was moving incredibly fast. Turns out I completed 3.7km in half an hour instead of my usual 3.6km LOL. So, not exactly fleet of foot but trend is friend, right?
More than anything, honestly, I'm proud that I am still chugging away at this running. I tend to get excited about new hobbies and projects, only to give up on them after awhile and move onto the next thing. And maybe I'll indeed do that with running, too, but so far I've persevered for much longer than anticipated and my own tenacity has amazed me. I also tend to only be interested in things for which I seem to have a natural inclination, and yet here I am, sticking with something that has been difficult for me each step of the way.
Huzzah for those of us who find this stuff especially hard but keep showing up and doing what we need to do! We are the Champions, my friends...
